Pick up the phone and make a call, person not in, hang up and do the same. Three hours later still doing the same thing. Counting the rings until the answer amchine cuts in. All the time just doing it over and over until I just cant manage to do it any more.

Im feeling ashamed. I spoke to my Therapist last night and told her what a bloody loser I am.

first things first. i gather from your last response that you're upset that no one answered immediately. i'm sorry. people come and go..work, eat, go to the bathroom, leave the house, etc. don't take it personally, if you don't get an answer right away.

i can't comment on the OCD. but i don't think that you are a loser. i hope that your T can help you with it. i've had different degrees of being obsessed with things that i did, but it always happened when i was really, really stressed about something.

hang in there, xoxox pat

Hi, Audrey,
I've been in that same mindset and mode before. May I ask what is the reason you wanted so desperately to contact this person?

This quiz might help: http://psychcentral.com/ocdquiz.htm
And ultimately a diagnosis would be done by a health care person.

Was your T helpful when you called? When you find yourself calling and calling for hours more than you want to, do you have any coping strategies to break the pattern?

Wishing you well,
Sarah

I didnt know there was such a thing as a coping strategy. I was calling my therapist and she was out and thats why I was calling over and over. Im such a loser, thats what it feels like. My T seems pleased that Ive actually admitted it to her and it was only at the end of a session that I eventually manged to tell het that Ive got problems with doing things over and over and over again. Its not just phoning, i do other things too. Im getting abit worried about it all now.

hello,

I was browsing through the web and came across this forum, I read your post and decide to join, I guess I wanted to let you know that I Have been diagnosed with OCD ..I can further share some of my own personal experience with the disorder.
From reading the post it sounds like there are some symtoms of OCD, the best thing to do is to go and get professional treatment. If you can't afford it, it is usefull to try and get diagnosed so that maybe insurance can cover it....or there are materials out there that expelain very well what OCD is all about. and how to cope with it
to the point where ocd will not rule your life.
The Key is do something about it. dont be ashamed..
I was.....and I thought it was my wierd personality or something
now I am way way way better and I still suffer periods where it tries to still grip me ...but I keep trying.......
and the techniques I have learned have very much made me happier!!!

Progress is a bumpy road
