I guess regret can cause anxiety -- the constant torment, etc. That's how I'm feeling right now. I won't elaborate with a long story since I don't think the details are necessary, but I regret missing an opportunity recently. And the regret just eats away at my mind. Kind of like the anxiety I have when I'm on an airplane and am afraid. Only I'm not afraid that something bad is going to happen -- I'm afraid that I can't live with my own choices. And wish I'd done something different. And then I torture torture torure myself. I can't eat or sleep, and sometimes I just want to harm myself (I don't). How long will this last? I'm not even thinking clearly enough to know from past experience.

> I guess regret can cause anxiety...

Especially if you think whatever you did that you regret will result in punishment for you...

I think the best anyone can do is accept the outcome of the choices that they've made, and if they don't like the outcome - see if there's anything that realistically can be done to change it.

I think everybody has regrets about something in life, the trick is to not let it eat away at you.

I find mindfullness with it's emphasis on staying in the moment to be really helpful with putting aside old stuff as well as dealing with anxiety.

I have a lot of regrets so your not alone; I'm still holding to the past and I haven't let grudes go. In my mind, If I had done something different than the outcome would've change. Someone once told me, "You can only accept the things you can't change and change the things you can."

me too.

I made a decision so long ago, that seemed right at the moment, but it wasn't.

I have had almost every reaction under the sun to this happening in my life, and nothing was positive, so what does that tell you?

There are things we have to live with, no matter what (unless we can fix a mistake as soon as possible).

Learning to be a stronger person, and accepting that things don't always go our way in life is a good lesson to learn. Once we have that down, we are capable to take the chances necessary to move on, move out, make something better, whatever comes our way.

That is my only consolation.

It makes us a better person.

peace and comfort,
nightbird

ps. it does get easier to abide, as days and months go by ... soon it becomes our strong suit.

I too have made bad decisions in my past and had to live with it! Sometimes a decision feels right at the time but turns out to be wrong!

We have to learn from those mistakes and hope the next time around we make better choices.

Make the best of what you have and grow stronger.

Mistakes are learning experiences! They teach us how strong we really are!

Good luck! Hugs n kisses!

REGRETS. Oh, that word.
I regret a lot of things I did in the past yet I'm just a young lady. But you know what, things happen and they all happen for a reason. What's more important is for you to learn from what you did, and to not repeat that same mistake again.

I do share your thoughts though... Saying all these optimistic things sounds easy, but it's sooooo hard to do them. Things in the past are the main cause of my anxiety.

Hope you're coping well now. ;]
