So I play in a few bands, and while we don't get tons of gigs, music is pretty much the thing that makes me happiest. So this coming month, I've got 6 gigs coming up. That's a lot for me. I'm totally excited about it. But I've also been getting the tell-tale signs of anxiety -- nail-biting, sometimes i bite my finger and I have this tic where I run my hands through my scalp and faux-massage my neck. Anyway, once I'm on stage I'm totally fine, but I just don't want the days leading up to this slew of gigs to be miserable.
Anyone have this same issue -- a stacked schedule can be overwhelming ... |

I've been there as a performer.
I'm a vocalist for traditional folk music and let me tell you. My anxiety was so bad, I used to cry before my performances. I mean, really cry. The best thing, I found for me was trying to calm myself through some sort of meditation. Just try to keep calm, if you're overwhelmed try going for a run somewhere or just a walk. Remind yourself that you know your music, and the people listening to you are there to listen to you, not kill you and you should be okay. |
