I literally felt like i was going to die, i couldn't breathe. I hate these attacks and they are getting worse.

Purple ..... may sound silly, get a paper bag breathe in and out slowly with it over your mouth and nose .....

if you dont have a paper bag
breath in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly up to ten times ..... dont hyperventilate .......

I have anxiety attacks like that sometimes. (((((((((((((((((((purple)))))))))))))))))) They are SO scary.

My T and I have worked to find some things to help ground me. These may not work for you, but just to give you some ideas:

Watching TV - something mindless
Holding a cold drink or a piece of ice in my hand or running my hand in cool water and FEELING the feeling of cold
Knitting (!) or coloring in my mandala coloring book - slow and soothing
Talking to another person

For me, unless I am actually in the room WITH T, I can't try slowing down my breathing or anything - focusing on it makes it worse. But grounding activities do help sometimes. They at least lessen it.

Do you have any grounding activities that work for you? Maybe we can try to figure some out that you can try next time.

Don't you worry, purple, we all have felt anxiety attacks here, heh. During my second last panic attack, I had an amazing urge to bash my head against a water fountain and a candy machine 'cause I couldn't deal with the feeling... I ended up walking up and down a flight of stairs at the speed of light until I got too tired to continue feeling anxious. Afterwards, I found myself with skinless lips, since apparently I bit all the skin off of them during my panic attack (it stinged quite a lot, heh ). Then the next day I was extremely anxious all day 'cause I didn't want to experience another panic attack for a while (until I went to see my therapist and I turned off the lights and layed down on a couch in one of the clinic's air conditioned rooms... That calmed me down).

They'll keep happening, sadly. That's our fate as "different" people, we're not gonna be normal anytime soon. So my advice is that you should make the best of your life, and keep seeking help tactics so you can increase your life quality. Sorry for the pessimistic message, but you have to admit it's true.

How are you doing now? The only thing that works for me is distraction and if it is really really bad I just have to sleep it off. A little bit of valium works wonders for those extreme times.
