Went to primary doc's today cause I was having sinus problems and when she checked me out she confirmed that I had a sinus infection. Which I pretty much expected. However, what I did not expect was for her to feel my neck and say that my thryroid felt full. I have never heard of your thryoid feeling full but whatever. Anyway, she asked me if have had a blood test to check for my thryoid and I said yes in fact I have had three because of fertility reasons this year and all came back normal. So she said "well I'd like for you to have an ultrasound on your neck just to check for nodules". Which I agreed to but then I started to bombard her with questions because all of this sent me right into panic mode. She saw I was getting nervous and she knows my history of OCD so she told me I don't want you to worry about this I know how you are and I don't want you to panic.....YEAH RIGHT! Anyway, luckily I had just by coincidence I a psych. appt. right after seeing my primary doc. and my psych. was helpful in trying to reassure me she told me take a klonopin too. But I have not take any Klonopin yet I am trying to calm myself without this medication.
I have an appt. Friday for the Ultrasound on my neck but I wouldn't know the results until next week. UGH!!!!!!!!!! Of course until then I will keep thinking the worst because that is the nature of my anxiety disorder. Any thoughts, suggestions, reassurances, etc. much appreciated! Thanks!

Jenn

Sunshine, something I learned about and continuously try to do is not worry about things that may not even happen 'cause it usually doesn't. I know those of us with anxiety do this quite a bit. It's not easy to do, but it's not impossible either. Look at it this way. If there's something wrong, you might find the answer to your fertility questions. Whatever is going on doesn't have to be life threatening, you know! Anxiety Attack!

Something else I learned was that even if "the numbers" are within the "normal" range, it doesn't mean it's normal for you. My thyroid was enlarged for a short time a while back and all that was wrong was that my thyroid had gotten a bit sluggish. A tiny pill took care of it. When I went in to see the doctor, the nurse told me I looked like I had the mumps! At 30 something?? Anxiety Attack! So I guess my thyroid was "full," too. Anxiety Attack!

Hope my experience helps you some. Anxiety Attack!
