Hey guys
I am just wondering if there is anything I can do to ease off my fidgetting. I constant fidget and its became more apparent when I am on Night Shift at work. I am usually on wiht my best mate who is getting quite annoyed with it. But cause she knows its me she kinda make allowances. I can imagine 10 hours of me fidgetting would be highly irratating. Any tips or advice would be gladly appreciated |

I have had this problem as well. I have found that doing 30 Minutes of Tai Chi in the morning, at least three times a week greatly reduces fidgeting.

I think fidgeting actually calms me. The trick is to do it unobtrusively so others don't notice. Can you put something in your pocket to fidget with, then no one will know? A stone like Muffy suggested?

Adderall (amphetamine salts) has def. made it much less for me. Also, when I fidget while I am sitting in a chair, I try to move into a different position or get up for a second and rest my foot on a foot holder thingy I have to (like a long soft pillow) to help me feel "comfortable". I have OCD too but that has seemed to help...but these great hypnosis audio's are very very good...they work like magic.

Hey Guys,
thanks for the replies!! I will try the smooth stone in my pocket for when I am on Night Shift. But what about everyday use. Is there anything I can do to ease the fidgetting? I am needing something to ease it off Tai Chi? ok I will look into that too Its really hard making it non-obvious to people when I am fidgetting. I have tried just letting it go and ignoring it but its a nightmare. Its like when I am sitting watching the tv or chilling out after working and all I have to do is just sit down. I am constantly having to move my body ie sitting back then forward and moving around the sofa etc. Tapping is my worst I think as its a constant thing that there. No matter what I do I am always tapping or patting my legs. |

(((((Miss Laura))))))))))))))) My Daughter use to do that alot. She would tap her foot and her knee would go . I always knew if she was nervous or upset by that.
She now work on med. When shes upset and has learned to reliaze she is nervous and that in itself seems to be helping. not sure this helps ...take care of you |

You could tell people you're doing an experiment, testing out the Mayo Clinic's NEAT study :-) http://mayoresearch.mayo.edu/levine_lab/about.cfm It's not "natural" to stay so still for so long; our ancestors did a lot of walking and working all day, used their muscles and nerves. It's good exercise.

Hey guys,
I told my mate about the stone thing and she was like its worth a try and is realy looking forward to seeing f it works. I also diddle my legs which has always been a problem for me. I seem to just "develop" these annoying habits. Biting my nails Foot/Hand Tapping Leg diddling Squiggling in my chair Fiddling with any items I can find within reach Eyes constantly moving around not sticking to anything for more than a min if that Talking extremely fast when im on a high Sometimes I actually go stop your fidgetting but other times I dont even know I am doing it. I was in a resturant with my mates and they were slagging me as all I did was fidget. My mate was like "this is what I have to put up with on Night Shift but its 20 times worst than that". I was like "oopss!!!" Ye the experiment thing may work heehee!!! |
