Angry, Angry, Angry

My 21yo daughter went out with her friends tonight. She was the DD. While in the bar someone ran right over her front bumper of her car. The parking lot was dark, she did not notice the bumper but she was pulled over because there was something wrong with her headlight.

They gave her a breathalizer, she blew zero's. They asked her if there was any drugs in the car to which she responded "adderall". The jackass of a cop asked what she was still doing taking the drug @ 21. My daughter, responded "I am an honor student in college with a 3.87 gpa, I was able to cope in HS without the medication but to make it in college I needed the help focusing."

This butthead said "well maybe if you spent more time studying and less time with these losers (her friends) you wouldn't need the adderall." Since when are these comments acceptable?!?

They made her park the car, and did several drive bys to make sure it wasn't moved, but refused to make a police report on the damage to the bumper! (Had to have been hit by a rather high truck which pried it down which made one of the headlights fall into the bumper.)

Wow what an idiot cop. I would have went off on him and ended up in jail for sure lol.

(((AAAAA and daughter))) - sorry I'm late reading this thread. I'm sorry this happened your daughter and I understand why you're upset. Sure the officer had the right to stop her vehicle but he doesn't have the right to make judgement calls about her medication or make snide comments about her friends or the choice of friends.

He definately over the line - I mean you're the parents not the other way around. If I were you, I would call and complain about that officer. He should have praised your daughter for being the DD. Wasn't he supposed to make a report about the bumper??

There was no reason for him to make such a comment. There is an abuse factor involved, he was doing her a "favor" by not giving her a ticket for faulty equipment and the price for that favor was putting up with his comments.

I have no doubt that he felt he was pulling over a drunk driver when he pulled her over. But even if she had been drinking or had broken some law that doesn't give him the right to treat the public that way. I give her a lot of credit for not responding with an attitude. I have no doubt if the man had done it to me, or worse her with me in the car, I would have ended up in jail. Why would it have been disorderly conduct for me to act in such a manner and for him business as usual?

In my opinion by choosing this career they agree to be the "grown up". To act in a mature fashion. This man appeared to be only slightly older than my daughter, but how can he be unaware that this hostile attitude can result in horrible consequences? I consider myself a reasonable person, but there is no way I would put up with this abuse. I respect their job and appreciate the work they do but everyone has their limit. I think every single squad car should be equipt with a camera, not only for their protection but mine as well. Perhaps this man would have acted differently if he was held accountable for his actions.

There were two police officers in this stop. The older one did not participate in this harrassment, but nor did he stop it.

I'm 23 (almost 24yr) and I'm still on adhd meds. Not even in college. (tho right now i'm off of them for about a week. hoping to be on them again (blood pressure was getting too high).)
Police are suposed to be professional and in a mature fashion. Not harrassing someone probably much younger than them over what they should or shouldn't be taking. ESPECIALLY not even knowing her situation, or her medical history! gah! >.<
I wonder if theres some way to report his actions to the sheriff or whoever is over them.
