You have to decide for yourself whether it's an acceptable risk. Most people don't have problems with the meds or else they wouldn't be so popular, especially among people who aren't prescribed them. As far as "good" goes, that depends on whether it helps your symptoms. In my opinion, extended release meds are better and less tempting for abuse. Ritalin is instant, but I think Concerta is the extended release version for the same active ingredient (might be wrong on that, though.) Adderall is usually preferred for adults, and for that one, the XR is a ton better for me than the instant release.

I just got officially diagnosed today, and was prescribed Concerta. Hope it works so I don't have to be like the majority of those on here and keep switching

I was diagnosed with ADD about three years ago. I tried generic Adderall (Non-Extended Release) and it was a home run right off the bat. I also tried Ritalin, but I thought the Adderall was more consistant. I tried Vyvanse (It's a new XR, like a more advanced drug based off Adderall XR, I think)
If the med works, you should know almost immediately, then it is a matter of finding the right dose for you. I like the Non-XR, because I take what I need for the day I'm going to have. I never exceed the prescribed dosage and usually take a little under what I'm prescribed. Ask someone you trust to help you monitor how you are acting, just to be safe. The meds are different for everyone. What works for me, might not work for someone else. You should begin to feel better soon. Take care... |
