Hi there,
I've reached my "that's it!!" point and I don't want to feel like a freaking cluster**** anymore. I've been struggling with my ADHD for 21 years, and I'm finally on the cusp of hiring an ADHD coach. I did a bunch of research on it and decided on the one I want, and I even contacted her to discuss the idea. I want to do it. I think I owe it to myself, and to everyone that cares about me (and has to deal with me when I get frustrated and do dumb things, like overdraw my account. Again.). The only problem? Cost. $400 a month. My wallet hurts just thinking about it. I'm pretty sure I can find a way (ask for help from my parents, grandparents, etc.), but I'd like to know before I start this, has anyone had positive/negative coaching experiences or heard of any? What might I expect out of this? And WHY isn't this more talked about as a treatment for ADHD? Thanks for taking the time to read this. --CHANGEwillcome |

I haven't heard of an adhd coach, life coaches yes, but didn't know about these ones. This sounds like a great idea, and you can make it happen, go for it! Is it a certain # hours? I think it would be money well spent. What do they do exactly?

Here's a link from the website that talks about it: http://marlacummins.com/services-and...chingservices/
Basically, they give you accountability and help you set and actually tackle goals. If I can make this work, priority number one for me is working on a budget and finding a way to stay on top of my spending and deposits (overwhelmed just thinking about it!). It is divided into like 3 45-min calls per month to plan, 5-10 min check-up calls, and unlimited email contact to check in and keep in contact to see progress/what can be tweaked/get on you to do what you said you would/give you strategies to try and see if they're working, like notetaking tools, etc. The link is to the one I picked, but there are a bunch out there. I really think this could help, but I would like to know more if anyone else has heard of this before! Thanks for your response, BlueInanna. --CHANGEwillcome |

I feel the need to ask two questions before I try and give you an answer. Do you have ADHD diagnosed by a psychiatrist? Is medication not an option?

I've heard ADD Coaches can be very helpful. I have not looked into getting one though. I have responded well to the meds and have been reading and posting to stay up to speed with the ADD.
