How many of you ever missed an appointment? I was looking forward to going and having my appt this morning with my doc. Well needless to say I did not get up on time and missed. Man I was so mad/angry. I am doing better now but ugh it feels like missing this set me back a lot. I know it is not really a big deal but now my mind has been in overdrive of what ifs etc. My doctor has a policy for missing appointments and not showing up. But she said she would waive it for me this time. But I think I am still gonna pay the fee since I feel I should be held accountable for not being there, isn't that one of the points of add, being held accountable, I think it is unfair she is making the exception for me and will probably still give her the money anyway. I mean even after missing this I did not want to make the next appointment, I do not even want to go to class. I feel I have lost all motivation all because I missed my appointment. Bad start to my day. I am still gonna go to class but ugh....... I need to pull some plug wires off my brain and make it shut.
Sorry for the lame vent. Thanks for reading, Maus5321 |

Hi,
I can relate to you some. I missed abt two appts w/ my T. Only difference is I called and left her a vm. I was depressed just in a funk. I still felt really bad and wished I had went. By not going I didn't get to tell her what was on my mind and bounce ideas off her. You could set a reminder and it will help you. It would be nice if there office did reminder calls.

I just remembered I was supposed to have a counselor appointment. She is so sweet....I am all the time calling or texting because I can't remember when it is. She is not mad at me.
Don't beat yourself up hon, it happens. If you have a smartphone you can set appointments I think but I am way to lazy to learn how to do any such thing. I can call and text and maybe take a picture. I forget to pay stuff all the time even if I have money, and I run out of medicine and groceries a lot, I have a lot of bills set so they will automatically pay, it has helped us. |

My smart phone failed me haha. I had the alarm set to wake me up. But the alarm sound did not go off for some reason. I am unsure why. I rescheduled the appointment and have it set for the afternoon in case it happens again hopefully I will not forget again.

Your reaction from missing the appointment is probably deeply embedded in your brain and probably triggers you. I have found that my setting a reminder the day before my appointment helps a lot. This first reminder sort of puts the appointment back on the radar, then I have the reminder/alarm go off about two hours before I need to be there.
Most docs will waive off the missed appointment fee the first time ![]() |

I'm guilty of doing it too. At lease we're taking steps to be accountable. LOL

Yes my phone reminds me of everything. So of my reminders are recurring. Like I have my therapy every other Friday. I program that once and I'm done. I don't take appt cards instead I stand the desk and program the appt or event in my phone. I'm not sure what type of phone you have. I have an iPhone. It lets me set two reminders for one appt/event. I can set a reminder two days before an appt then two hours before. Best wishes to you.

I have a droid x phone. Oh yeah my day was totally thrown off. I was so mad and on edge. I was pacing around the school a lot the teacher was trying to figure how to administer the quiz we had to take. She was trying to have us ask the opposing team a question then they would ask us one to see who would get the most right etc etc. but we made up the questions and the answers. All in all it was a big pain. I was pacing so much because I was just not in the mood. I did not even want to go to class. then all that nonsense. I did a lot pacing that night. I bet my classmates thought I was weird that night lol.
