Hi everyone,

I've managed to do very well in school.. but that's only because I've somehow miraculously been able to finish my assignments/study for exams the night before/day of. However, this is always so BLOODY stressful .. I can't continue this pattern of behaviour! (plus for work in the real world and grad school, it's just not feasible... i.e. you can't complete a Ph D in one night).

At first I thought it was my ADHD (recently diagnosed) that was my problem in not being able to consistently work on things... y'know.. on a day to day basis. And that may be a major cause of it. However, I have recently begun taking Concerta for it... And now I'm not sure if it's because of my ADHD symptoms or just a lack of motivation?

I want to be a good worker/diligent student.. but I can't seem to bring myself to improve my work habits. I've tried reasoning with myself, willing myself to be productive... I just.. I can't seem to organize myself or bring myself to just BEGIN working.

Help!!!!

Yes, you might need to experiment with meds and dosages. It would also be a good idea to get involved in some therapy to help you learn some new skills.

I have benefited greatly from the book "Driven to Distraction" and look forward to the sequel, "Delivered from Distraction." Both are written by a psychiatrist who has ADD himself and decades of experience as a professional.
Thanks for this!

I'm reading Delivered right now. (Read the first one, too). After I return it to the library, I might get it again. Takes me awhile to get it, especially if don't think I need the info at the moment, ;-) I likely do!
Thanks for this!

They quite helpful books. I have read both books already. I might have to read them again soon to learn something new I missed the last time I read them '
