Hello all,
Lately I've been noticing that I can become easily overwhelmed. Since starting on this journey of addressing my issues, I've scaled back on activities and started delegating tasks to family members so I'm not the one doing everything for home and family. Although it's been nice rearranging my life so that I'm not so overworked, I'm starting to get a bit bored. So, I decided to start taking on a few low key projects. Almost immediately I felt a surge of anxiety. All it took was thinking about starting a project and my mind was spinning and my anxiety humming. Before starting medications, I was like a whirling dervish, hurricane yellowfrog. Although I was exhausted mentally and physically, I loved the challenge. Strattera helps stop the hyperactivity and quells the 10,000 plus thoughts that would normally race through my brain. It is allowing me to take one task at a time through to completion. Problem is though, without the hyperactivity driving me forward, I feel boredom and then freaked out about starting a project. Could ADHD meds cause this kind of change? |

Have you considered discussing this with your psychiatrist and psychologist? They might have more patient-specific, professional insight. Most of us on this forum are not trained medical professionals.

I don't think the Strattera is causing the anxiety. It's probable that your high level of activity was masking the anxiety and that now that you have slowed down, you are feeling it. It would be a great thing to bring up with your T.

Yeah, I get overwhelmed easily too. Thinking about things causes me a lot of stress. My anxiety keeps me from getting into projects so I don't accomplish much. But, I feel restless and bored when I'm not actively engaged in something......D.

I tend to be a great list maker but overwhelm myself with the enormous amount of thing I can list at one time. Results were that nothing was being done and anxiety was through the roof. What I do now is make a list of only 5 thing to do. Once those 5 things are done I make a list of 5 more things and do them. I start with TD5a next list is TD5b etc. My To Do 5 lists are a life saver for me.
