...and I'm so happy that I now know.

My Mom is sure I had HA as a kid and since 9 years of age I knew I was different. I have all the classic symptoms, and I guess I have been good at compensating for them, with a college education and being an Officer in the Armed Forces. BUT I'm leaving active duty because of problems, some of which are symptoms of ADD, hating paper work and being disorganized. Combat and race car driving keep me focused, but sitting at a desk is death!!
Anyway, I'm taking Ritalin and I feel great, I can go to sleep without having to be totally exhausted, and can study for almost two hours at a time, and I'm happy. The ADD depression is gone, and that feels great too.
So if you think you have it, go to a doctor and get checked out!

I just got "ADD friendly ways to organize your life" anyone read this book?

It shouldn't be a crutch. If you are aware of it, and know the symptoms the you can more easily compensate for them. I'm reading two books right now "ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Live" by Kolber and Nadeau, and "You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid Or Crazy?!" by Kelly and Ramundo. These two books could help you determine how your ADD is manifesting itself and they will help you compensate for it.

An example from me. I just started taking ritalin and I'm now studying again for a career change. I know that I need to get most of my studying done before 900pm, by then the ritalin is wearing off, my mind is wondering more, and I'm tired.

Don't feel bad. I have had a lot of people read my post but no one will respond except myself. How pathetic is that, I had to respond twice to my own topic? I can relate. Now you have a reply! Hopefully you can find what you're looking for.

I have depression and now learned I have ADD. Did the doc put you on this RX because it was originally designed to treat depression? (that was what I was told) I sent you a message asking you a few questions. Wondering if Strattera is working for you.

Yeah, I can understand, I was diagnosed with ADD when I was seven years, (now I am fifteen), and it gets pretty tough to have it. My mom won't let me take any form of medication for ADD because of the side effects. It's hard to concentrate on reading, listening to conversations, staying organized, remembering tasks, staying on task, keeping concentrated on my school work, etc. I like having people to talk to who can relate to me - I hate ADD - it can be embarrassing. Though all those things come along with ADD, we have to keep on going and fight the struggle. I'm fighting day to day battle to get more and more over the ADD and I improved much over the years. I wish you good luck!
