Hi everyone,
I just started adderall not long ago and it has been working pretty well with a fairly low side effect profile, except for one that I think is strange (or maybe not)? Ever since I started taking it i've had an insatiable appetite for water. Not dry mouth, just craving water in huge amounts. I was out this afternoon and I drank 3 liters in one hour alone. I would guess im taking in 3-5 gallons a day. Anyone else experienced this? Thanks! |

When I took adderall...I was thirsty as well. All day long I would have no appitite. My skin turned Red...and I would feel Very irritable.
I aslo had a euphoric feeling, Like I was really really happy...Then really mad...It was weird...it made me feel like I HAD TO DO SOMETHING OR I WOULD KILL SOMEONE...Thats pretty much it |

Hey Sigurd,
I have been drinking a lot of water too on my Adderall therapy but not 3 liters and hour!!!! Wow, that's a lot!! Be careful, too much water can hurt you...remember that lady that drank too much water in that radio competition to win the Nintendo Wii?!! Just make sure you check with your doc about that. Once, when I was on a weight loss stint of mine, I was drinking too much water and it messed up my electrolyte balance. I had irregular heart beats and I was lightheaded. My doctor said that much water was really dangerous. Good luck!! Maybe try some gatorade once in a while? |

I have taken Adderall for a few years, I don't get thirsty ...but I HAVE TO EAT! It does the opposite to me as a far as an appetite goes! I have gained more than a few pounds on this med.
You really should let your practitioner know about the water consumption. That might not be good. |

Yes, it is common to get thirsty with it.

Yeah, Adderall makes me have to drink, drink, drink.... then pee, pee, pee!
![]() Seems like that effect has settled down to a managable level now that I've been on it for a while, though. Gatorade's a good idea... I also like Vitamin Water....

First off I want to thank everyone for being so friendly and welcoming,I am a newby and i'ts a relief to not feel like an outcast.Anyway,I was having similar probs. on adder.,so doc. switched me to Concerta a few weeks ago 36mg./1 a day a.m. so far, FOR ME, it is much better. For one,it is controlled-release,so it did'nt hit me all at once and wear off by noon, or so. It says in the info it will help a.d.d. symp. (adult for me) up to 12 hrs,/day on one daily dose,I find it's more like 8-10hrs. FOR ME .No jitters,no extreme anything(including thirst)and no peaks and valleys all day long, and no mood or anxiety issues(as opposed to adder. FOR ME ). Adder. always hit ME like a ton of bricks and then kicked my legs out from under me when it was wearing off.PLEASE keep in mind that this is MY personal experience.I am not advocating Concerta and bashing Adder. to you or anyone, things can work differently, for different people(and almost always do,I have found). I present this as a possible OPTION, and nothing more. None of this may apply to you at ALL, I simply wrote this because real experiences from another A.D.D.,A.D.H.D etc......sufferer, is always better than speculation and ignorance, even though I am new here, I truly believe we should help each other as best we can.I think we've suffered enough.Good luck! and thanks.
