I'm having EEG and head MRi soon. Can these types of tests help with diagnosing neurodevelopmental disorder?

ADHD can't be tested with EEG or MRI. I mean, with EEG, you can *technically* monitor brain wave activity and make a guess as to whether someone has ADHD, but it's not a good diagnostic tool for ADHD at all and you shouldn't ever do that. Plus, it's cheaper and easier to just give someone a written/oral test to assess whether someone has ADHD or not... and even then, those tests aren't perfect.

In general, EEGs and MRIs are used to rule out various neurological conditions that cause ADHD-like symptoms. Here's a list of 50 conditions whose symptoms mimic ADHD symptoms: 50 Conditions that Mimic ADHD | AbleChild.org

I'm guessing one or more of your doctors suspect a neurological problem based on what you told them. Your signature does say "possible Adrenal Hyperplasia".

Anyway, whatever the outcome, I'm sure it will help you better understand what you're going through. Best of luck

I don't actually do this for ADHD especially, but thought about it by the way. I do it from my own money, so I wasn't consulting a doctor, I didn't want to waste cash on the visit before I had the results. I do MRi and EEG because I have tinitus and severe headaches after a few accidents.

For Adrenal Hyperplasia, I need to perform CT scan of adrenal glands. I do have hormonal issues, indeed.

Well, it sounds like you have good reason to do EEG and MRI, but yeah.. it won't reveal anything about ADHD sadly.

Do you think you had ADHD symptoms before the accidents? If you did, make sure to bring it up with the doctors before the tests so that they don't try to blame your attention/concentration issues entirely on your accidents.

Also, I guess it doesn't really matter if you have ADHD. If you've got some neurological condition that causes ADHD-like symptoms, maybe ADHD medication will help.

Sometimes you have to focus more on the symptoms than the label.

The accidents are something totally separate from my symptoms, those, by the way, weren't very serious, but I had a part of my face broken, nose and around, and banged my back head really heavy few times, so I just want to make sure that nothing happened inside there, especially that I had never done any brain scan or anything. My head might be as well clear and the headaches and all this stuff may come from hormonal problems and anxiety. There are also many neurological diseases running in the family, so why not check that.

Speaking of ADHD symptoms, I suffered from them my entire life, but they're much more visible now in adulthood. Of course ADHD often overlaps with many other difficulties, like anxiety, emotional problems, learning disorders, Oppositional defiant, depression, etc, even the autism spectrum, most of them which I also suffer from (Yet, for example, my depression started when I was about 9 and was mostly caused about not "being like the others" and lacking skills others had, or standing out bc of my nationality, looks, sexual orientation and character, although i do have some bipolar tendencies, since SSRIs made me crazy), but I don't think it's right to separate conditions so much, as they're often mixed with one another, as I said before. So, I have terrible problems with working memory, which almost made me lose my previous job (sales, ugh), multitasking, daydreaming, seeking stimuli, hypervigilance, can't do something I'm not interested in, which made me both under and over achiever academically (I was the best of the best in years at some subject, failed greatly the other), after passing my driver's licence on 8th attempt, I still cannot drive properly, which makes me really sad and my driving course was the first time someone suspected I have ADHD, I have problems with regulating my emotions and I'm really impulsive, talking about everything with everyone has caused me troubles too. I've had temper tantrums a lot as a child, been very opposite defiant despite being a girl. Frustration is a huge issue for me, mostly bc of my underachieving (things that other people find easy, I find terribly difficult). Struggling with motor skills is also a big problem, for example, learning to catch a volleyball ball took me...three years. Wanted to do horse riding but couldn't learn basic skills, can't dance, can't plan. I've always been very clumsy and slow. There are other things, too. Like hypervigilance to sound and light that sometimes makes me think I'm schizophrenic.

I had EEG today and I must say it was pretty awful, despite a very nice lady doing it.
I got a panic attack from sitting still and having a thing around my head, then got nauseaous from the heavy breathing part, which is fine, and after the part where the heavy lights were displayed my mind went totally confused, blank and winded up, the lady wanted me to rest because she thought I'm losing it and gonna faint. She said usually people feel comfy and sleepy after EEG, but I felt almost narcoleptic and my blood pressure went too slow. I will have the results on Thursday.

Five hours after the test and I still feel terribly irritated, almost angry and weak. My brain feels weird like some parts of it are under electricity.
