The question is in what grade you are influenced by others opinions or impressions about you.
I want to be clear that I'm referring to the perception (subjective) we have about other people's impression about us unless we can ask and talk with this person and he/she honestely gives us his/her opinión.
I would like to know your case.

Ok, I'm gonna share mine with you.
I have a quite high level of self-steem now that I don't care about other people's impressions unless they are very important to me.
However, I lived all my life with the problem that my self-steem was greatly influence for what I think other people thought about me.
This took me into depressions too much times.
I don't know for sure if when I will be low in mood in the future, the same dynamic is going to be repeated. I hope it won't. This is why I made therapy. Lol!

Avoidant people have low self esteem, as you know. Other's perceptions of me have way way too much influence on me.

I can read micro expressions on people's faces, so it's almost like I can read people's minds. (Comes in handy when teaching; I can tell without asking if my students understand or not.) The thing is, I can see if strangers react to me, and when they do, people I've never talked to before, they can impact my mood. Classic avoidance.

If I feel like someone is judging me in the slightest bit, I can't tolerate it. And if it appears that someone feels like I have judged them, I also can't tolerate it. It will throw me into a pit so fast it would make your head spin.

Judging people is a very bad thing. However, we are doing it without conciousness.
We can't be objetive because all we can achived is a perception of the reality, not the reality itself. When there are feelings implied is even worse.

I told you mummy. I will end up liking you.
