Just got prescribed it and take my first dose tonight. 2 nights of 20mg, 2 of 40mg, then 6 days of 60mg, and 6 days of 80mg.

Zyprexa was making me fatigued and not controlling my invasive thoughts or seeing things. Hence the latest atypical anti-psychotic.

What is everyone's experience with Geodon?

I don't know what I'll be put on if this one doesn't work.

geodon actually made me manic. I forget what dosage i got up to, but I was two weeks in when I started getting extremely hypomanic. I had to stop it very abruptly

Manic would beat the way I've felt on Risperdal and Zyprexa (the last 2). My mania got stoked by Abilify so I had to come off of it. Seroquel made me sleep up to 14 hours per day.

Ahhhh! Where is the happy medium? Does it even exist?

Geodon has quieted and calmed things down for me. When I was on the maximum dosage I did experience akathisia. Since then I was titrated down and thankfully no longer experience that, but do experience some intermittent slurring. My pdoc prescribed Congentin to help with that. But overall, I think it's a good drug for mania, and psychosis as well. Take it with food, and if you have a dose during the day and find yourself out of it or sleeping through the day, then ask your pdoc to take it at night. I couldn't handle the sedation during the day, so my pdoc suggested I take all my daily dosages at night and it has worked out well.

Hope Geodon works for you!

Make sure when you take it you're in close proximity to a bed. It made me pass out randomly. Then I couldn't stop blinking my, or twisting my tounge. Brought me out of depression quite quickly. Did go a little manic. Second time around night 4, seizure.

I really hate that I can't take Geodon any more. It's most likely due to the fact that I was on Depekote as well.....>.<

Somewhat similar to the last response. Made me feel like a narcoleptic. I never knew when I would fall asleep, and this caused immense anxiety, and eventually also paranoia, which ultimately led to dysphoric mania. I'm still on it, now on a very low dose (60mg/day) until I actually see the psychiatrist in Dec. for a change.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I do take Geodon at night only. My experience last night was I took it, along with my Lithium and Zyprexa (which I'm titrating off of) at 9pm. I was still awake at 10:45 or 11. I was staring up at the ceiling and feeling like I could do an all-nighter. Sometime after that I conked out. The cat woke me up around 4:30. Again, I felt wide awake, however, my legs and arms felt stuck to the bed and leaden. I walked it off. Forced myself back to sleep because I don't want to get in trouble for being manic. Woke up to my alarm at 8.

I think I like Geodon. I don't wake up feeling groggy or tired. And I drank wine with my dinner last night. Bad, I know, but I'd been off of alcohol for 28 days. Just missed the taste.

When manic I drink a lot, but when on Geodon I don't drink a lot. In fact, I don't drink at all as I just have no desire to drink. I'm glad you're liking Geodon. Maybe when you're at a good dose you won't crave the taste of alcohol.

I take geodone at night 120 at this point but have taken 80 when it seems like Im sleeping too much. I take cymbalta in the morning. I do feel that I need to be close to bed about 1 to 11/2 hours after taking it cause Im like drunk acting with it. It seems to be helping.

I'm having a good day so far in terms of mood. I think it is too early to have results from the Geodon, but nothing else that I can tell was different except for it being the weekend, and having some wine after a 4 week fast.

Hmm. I'm skeptical. This probably won't last, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

to everyone.
