I have been reading through some of the other posts but I'm still not sure what to say--afraid of something embrassment maybe. I agree w/some other I have been feeling really down lately. I think lots of negative thoughts that seem to be present much too often. For example I am such a loser 'cause I'm not going anywhere w/my life--dead end job and that'll never make it out on my own. And I think it's my fault things are this way because I made a horribly wrong decision of dropping out of college when my grades were good, it wasn't too much of a financial burden yet I thought I'd rather get high all the time f*** school (I have been clean for few years, now). I can't get over it.
I'm not happy w/the way things are but I'm not doing anything to fix it. I want something better but I am afraid to even inquire about other jobs or some classes at another college. And fitting it in w/work (which I need for health benefits--meds are so expensive!!)
Any suggestions?

Don't know if this will help or not. I am kind of in the same situation, job that will never go anywhere and yet I don't go back to school. I will give you the same advice everyone gives me and hopefully you will go thru with it unlike me. Just go visit a local college that has what you are looking for, if you don't want to commit to class time check out online schools and try taking just a class or two to see how it fits in with your life. You can do it if you really want it, but it will not be easy. If you need support, you are in the right place for it.
Thanks for this!

Welcome to PC Simply Orange. The first post is always the hardest but please no worries about being embarrased here. Everyone is so supportive all the time it's wonderful. I'm sorry you're feeling down. The negative thoughts are tough. DO you see a therapist (T)? My old T helped me a lot with my negative thinking and since then I have got online and completed some online self-help modules for it. It does help. It doesn't stop the negative thinking but it does help me change the way I react to my thinking. Just wondering what your experience with that is. There's a wonderful free program online through Australia but I found it to be great. It's called MoodGym (moodgym.anu.edu.au/welcome). Hope you get to feeling better soon... in the mean tme post away... no worries. Welcome again!!!!

Thanks gravyyy. I am not currently seeing a therapist. I have switched health insurance companies. Hopefully I can find a new one and get it approved. That site looks like it might be good, just registered and did a few questionnaires. So thanks for that. And do you know how to look at a thread you've posted w/out looking through all the posts and finding yours that way?

Thanks Goldylocks, Yea I am not sure what I want to do exactly and I'm kinda afraid to talk to the people would help me advisers or whatever just to get info. Do you know what you want to do, if you went back?
But maybe when the next term starts I could take a class at a community college since my work has vouchers for them. Just the timing, it's very short notice.

Welcome to PC. I can certainly understand your frustration because I have just been approved for Vocational Rehabilation to send me back to school and I still don"t know what I want to do( I'm 54). I got a degree in "81 but never used it and now there are no jobs available in that field (Social work).I wish you the best in in search for answers and direction.

all we can do is start the journey from where we are at, over and over sometimes. I've gone back to college 5 times, hang in there.
Thanks for this!

Simply orange, good show wanting to go back. Is there some way you could start out slow with one course that looks like it might be fun and doesn't cost too much? It might be a good way to get started again and my not be so daunting as trying to start out full blast from day one. Huggs

"What Field are you interested in?"
I'm not sure what I want to do exactly but something in the health care industry. I work at a hospital, w/a non-clinical non-important job but I like it there. And when I did go to college I liked writing up the results from lab experiements, not the calculations though. And sadly wanting to and actually doing something are not the same.
Do you know what you'd like to do if you went back?

Thanks yea that'd be a good idea to start out slow. But I think I should know what I want to do, so I can pick something relevant to what degree or certificate I go for. Wish there was an easy way to figure out exactly what I'd want to do.
