no longer, it is SO GOOD that you are posting regularly. that is what this whole shebang is for, you know? but the whole no sleeping thing... i understand. when you are exhausted you can;t really think or feel anything. everything is foggy and strange. that is why it is such a comfort. as lame as it sounds, take 3 advil liquidgells PM. it will totally help. it makes you SO tired, but it doesn't let you stay up. it works for me when i don't want to take sleeping pills or antipsychotics.

but again, completely understandable. i feel the exact same way.

Don't take Advil if you are taking Lithium... Bad combo...

However, sleep is so important. I go through periods where I sleep well and periods where I can't sleep at all, and still more periods where I sleep way too much. I take Seroquel at night for sleep and it really does help. I still have the occassional 2 am night and there was a manic period about a month or two ago where I stayed up right through my dose until dawn, but for the most part I get a good amount of sleep each night.

If meds don't work, experts suggest going to bed at the same time each night, waking at the same time each morning and using your bedroom for only sleep, no studying, or watching TV, etc.

Try warm baths, quiet music at night, and even exercise early in the day to try to re-set your internal clock.

Thanks Jenna, Its exactly like that. I know that the instant I fall asleep, I risk totally losing control. I can't survive another day, but I keep tripping up and almost passing out, and Im so weak that I don't think I can go much longer without sleep. x

You must get your sleep or you will feel terrible and you might get sick.
I agree with BNLsMom and all the things she suggests.
My rule is that if I am wide awake at midnight I take something.

I'm sorry to hear that your going through such a hard time. Do you have a therapist or doctor that you can talk to about the sleep situation? My Psychiatrist has told me to take 2 Benadryl at night - I take them about 8 and I'm ready for bed by 9 and I sleep though the night. But before takeing any medication that is new to you, you really should talk to your doctor first! You may have allergies that we are not aware of - but your doctor would or should have this information.

It's good that keep posting - that is what this site is for. Please keep posting and you can PM me anytime you would like to. Please be carefull taking any medications that help you to sleep - please, call your doctor or the nearest Emergency Room for information about a over the counter med before you take it. I'm drug sensative - two benadryl knock me out or up to 8-10 hours.... Becareful, please if you decide to try a sleep aid.

And just because, her is a hug for you {{{{NoLongerSane}}}}

You are not stupid! You are like the rest of us -an extraordinary individual who is surviving in spite of the complicated life you are leading. Sleeping is not a weakness, a loss of control. It is just a necessity of life, a way for our bodies to regroup and refresh. Without sleep your immune system can't fight off illnesses. But do be careful about self-medicating so you don't mix drugs that don't need to be mixed. I fight with sleep both ways. When things are really bad, all I want to do is sleep and at times can sleep a lot. Then I have times like last night when I have to get back up and get on the computer or something because I can't just lie there anymore. Even though my meds make me have really bad dreams, I find sleep is a way to get away from the struggle for a while. Let us know how things turn out. Hope you get some rest.
