I want to start therapy again but I wasn't sure how to find someone (usually you get a referral from your pdoc, but I don't like my pdoc and am planning on trying to switch) so I just called and talked to the receptionist and told her that I'm looking for someone who does more interpersonal therapy as opposed to just listening, that I was looking for someone who had knowledge of bipolar, PTSD, and anxiety issues, and maybe even had some CBT training. She said that M.S. would probably be just what I'm looking for, and I have a consult appointment with him on May 14 (soonest he has an opening for a new patient). I really hope it works out so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! So even though my day had a really rotten start, this has helped to make it better

That's so fantastic, for me, as both a recovering alki and also a person with Bipolar, panic and anxiety, my therapist (2 actually) are such an intrinsic part of my recovery. This is a reall step forward for you.
Thanks for this!

Thanks everyone...I am nervous to start, because in the past most of my therapists were eating disorder therapists (I used to be anorexic). After that, I tried a couple of "regular" therapists but they just sat there, and I need someone who will interact with me. When I called and talked to the receptionist, I did make sure to tell her that was one of my main criteria...someone who will do more than just listen. And I am always scared that I won't know what to say. It's always been easier to write about things as they come up as opposed to talking about it "on cue". I guess I can always print out some of my blog posts to help me remember exactly what has been going on so I don't get there and go blank. Thanks again!!
