Well, more immobile than I have been anyway.

It's been almost three weeks and even though I'm not manic, less depressed and actually sleeping I'm still not getting up and doing things. I sleep, wake up okay and then I'm just sort of useless.

I was supposed to take one Geodon per day for a week and then go up to two. The one time I tried taking two Geodon before bed I was particularly glued to the couch the next day.

And I SWEAR my spatial reasoning is messed up. Things look flat sometimes or I reach for something and it isn't where I think it should be. I've broken two plates in the last twenty-four hours. I was a dancer, I'm normally very coordinated. This is frustrating...

Yeah, this tends to be a common complaint with Geodon. It is definitely known to have a hangover effect the next day. It is an excellent medication but that sluggishness and being uncoordinated and clumsy and off-balance are really common side effects. I have been told that they do lessen over time so there is some hope. I would never try it because I work full time and can't wait for a month before the morning effects of the medication wear off. I don't know if it's possible for you, but maybe you could take the meds earlier in the night so less of the medication is available in your system in the morning? I don't know if that's realistic for you. It isn't for me which again reinforces my reasons for not trying it. If you're able to wait it out that's the best thing, but if you can't or are annoyed, talk to your pdoc about it. Take care and good luck.

This is all day doing nothing. As far as I can tell the effects are not worse after I wake up. In fact I feel best after I wake up and then worse later when I have once again accomplished exactly nothing. Doc appointment in two weeks. If it isn't better by then on half of what she prescribed I might go back to the dreaded Lamictal, I don't know...

After a while the side effects should lessen. I also found that on a higer dose the side effects weren't as bad.

The same thing with Seroquel. If I take 25mg, don't expect me to wake up. Currently I'm taking 100mg which seems to work out better.

I am on geodon 1 x 40 mg @ night for bipolar 2 mixed.

I went through the geodon initiation phase .. You will feel like crap, tired, sleepy, dumb, numb and about to die, I wanted to quit and give up but I came too far to start over again with another drug. I took 1 week off of work to get adjusted and my body came around when I went up to 1x60mg but had weird face movements so the dr. took me back down to 40 mg and it went away within 24 hours.

If you are tough enough to handle the first few days/weeks this drug can be a miracle for you. I had previously tried 8 others meds and nothing was "clicking" with my body/mind. This has been a life saver for me..

My dr. had to get tough with me and I had to mentally push myself with geodon. Now my mind is quiet, I can work, play and be a mom who is stable. Also, I lost around 15 pounds within the first 10 days and more coming off as I go. Dr. is also adding a stimulant to help with the groggy mind in the AM and hopefully that doesn't bring back the face movements..

In the end you have to tough out the drug and get past the crappy side effects then hopefully it will work for you.

Thank you, I am running low on optimism right now and well, thank you. I am so frustrated with myself that I'm losing perspective a little bit and need to be reminded that it isn't me, I'm not generally lazy or that irresponsible I just have a problem and the meds are kicking my butt right now.
