<<<<<<Got out of bed and cleaned my house some. Kept myself from being rude to AC technician (he was rude first!). Was supposed to call to repair stupid washing machine but I felt really panicky and depressed so I went out and walked around the mall instead.

Amazonmom, I hope you are feeling better. I hope that walk helped.

I went hiking last weekend with an old friend. I did four miles and only once thought my heart would explode from the exertion!!!

She knows I am on lithium and she brought extra water for me to drink.

Woohoo! I have lost a total of 15 lbs. and it feels great. Since my diagnosis I gained over 50 lbs. from med side effects and I have felt very uncomfortable in my own skin. I feel I'm finally getting back to feeling comfortable with my body. I understand that my mental health is more important than my physical health, BUT I really wished my p-doc was more upfront with the possible side effects and I had asked for a med change sooner.

One of many things I have learned from this weight gain is to be more empathetic to others who are struggling with a weight issue. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I used to judge others that were overweight and would think "why don't they just eat less and exercise". Yes I know very ignorant, but I have learned a valuable lesson because no matter how much I exercised, ate properly the weight wouldn't budge until I had a med change.

Been doing 45 minute walks in my neighborhood. I was pacing the apartment, but the weather got cooler, so I went outside the last couple days. It's been tiring me out because I'm not used to the hills and it works different muscles than when I pace. This morning my weight was the lowest ever in recorded history as an adult. It's getting scary. I don't want to drop below 100 pounds, and I'm only 1 away from that. I think the meds speed up my metabolism and take away my appetite. I'm going to start drinking protein shakes in addition to my 3-4 meals per day. I'm worried, seriously. It's just as dangerous if not more so than gaining too much weight. I'm not anorexic, but I don't want to look like I am.

I decided to eat a salad for lunch instead of a whole tray of Trader Joe's hummus. I am too fat and ugly to go work out.
