Hey guys,

I've just started this med and wanted to know how many of you take it and what experiences you've had on it.

I've only been on it for a week and apart from feeling tired, I've lost my appetite which confuses me as you're supposed to have an increased appetite. Anybody have the same thing happen to them?

I tried to take seroquel but couldn't. It made we too tired and dugged feeling. It also made me angry for some reason. While it can increase appetite in some, others will experience a decrease in appetite. The drug will react differently in each person taking it.

Hi there,

I'm currently taking Seroquel XR, (aka Seroquel XL) 250mg. The only side effect I noticed was being tired, but this goes away after a week or so. I find the XR better than IR (instant-release) in the sense that there's less side effects and less drowsiness.

This medication is working for me because it has wiped away a LARGE percentage of my anxiety. I no longer have panic attacks, and I also get a good night's sleep. I used to cry all the time, now it doesn't happen often at all.

Any problems with it? Increased appetite, and vision problems. Often when trying to read things in the distance, it's blurry. I used to have 20/20 vision. However, for me the rewards totally outweighs the problems. Without it, I'd be an anxious wreck, and would more easily become manic.

I take 300 mg of the regular flavor, spaced through out the day. I tried the XR/XL version and it made me hyper, and I wasn't able to sleep.

I have to work on going to sleep after I take my night time dose, b/c if I don't I'll sit there and eat everything until I pass out.....>.<

I take the XR version. I prefer it to the regular version because it doesn't immediately knock me out. Be sure you take it early in the evening. Suppertime is not too early. That way by morning you will be through the worst of the drowsy side effects.

I took only half of the Seroquel I was prescribed and I was sleeping 18 hours a day. I couldn't handle it and quit taking it after 2 weeks.

I was only on 25mg in the end and still sleeping up to 14 hours a day and super depressed. It didn't do anything it was supposed to, just drained my will to live. I came off of it since my dr wouldn't let me try anything else and went into a hypomanic/manic episode, which was fun. I can't imagine taking 300mg. But I have heard that the sleepiness wears off eventually. It didn't for me in the 2 months I took it.

this is my second time around on seroquel and when the doctor said 100 mg to begin with, I had my doubts. the first time I took it, I only took 25 mg, but since I was soo sleepy all the time I would cut it in half and still be sleepy. the weird part about the seroquel though is that I am not completely tired at the higher dose, and actually since I've been taking 300 mg, I've been sleeping less than I was with taking only 100 mg.
Thanks for this!

Bizarre...must be a tolerance thing. Like taking too much Benadryl for too long. You eventually feel more awake instead of sleepy.

Seroquel has been used by my partner our experience included

brief periods of restless sleep waking up and raging for short periods and then sleeping again rinse and repeat for days on end...

the sum of damage included 1 car total write off, a few dead pixels in a reinforced flat screen monitor. compound fracture in the hand which had to be surgically cleaned and pinned, Broken External door, Speeding fine, and Homelessness all in under a month

oh and gaining 40kg's which almost 18 months later he hasn't been able to shed.

he was urinating hourly, vomiting bile, terrible nausea, coughing up blood in the last days of using it.
