I've been on Zoloft for 13 days now. I thought I was doing well until Wednesday (the 15th) or Thursday (the 16th). Now I'm not so sure. I got so mad because my grandmother has put my coat away Thursday and I was slamming everything (doors, my coat), I yelled and cused at my son which is something I try extreamly hard not do to. Then on Friday I called my mother and asked her to keep him until I could take to a doctor about how to handle all this. On Saturday I slept off and on for odd hours then extreamly late that night I headed up to my boyfriends because I was scared to be alone for fear I might hurt myself. I spent most of the day with him and I had him frustrated and confused most of the day because he can't stand not knowing how to help me deal with all this. He know that I am trying to come off the Zoloft because after being on it since the summer of 2005 I don't care for the fact it's making me flightly and "air-headed". Now it seems like my sleep is screwed up. The doctor said it's going to take another 4 weeks before we know if my symptoms are from coming off the Zoloft or if it is from the "bi-polar"

I came off Zoloft for a bit and I had a very similar experience. I tapered down slowly and didn't have any problems. It wasn't until I had stopped taking it completely for about 2 weeks that things started to go downhill. The first thing to get screwed up was my sleep. I also became extremely irritable and I was snapping at everyone. It was hard to tell how much was due to lack of sleep and how much was due to "discontinuation syndrome". I also had those brain zap things.
I stayed off Zoloft for about 4 months in total and was med-free during that period. But as time went on I became much more anxious and much more depressed. I am now back on Zoloft again. Definitely not saying that you will have to go back on it. Just wanted to share my personal experience. I quit because I didn't think Zoloft was working for me anymore. I don't have any bad side effects from it, I just thought it had "pooped out". But after being off it for a few months I realized that it was helping quite a bit. And that's why I'm back on it. Are you taking any other meds? It's good you're in close contact with your doc. Wishing you all the best!
