I called my pdoc's office a week ago and two days thereafter for him to call in my Geodon and Ambien and so far nothing. I keep checking with my pharmacy (mail order) and they keep saying he hasn't called anything in. I'm starting to stress out as I've never stopped my meds abruptly, especially an antipsychotic.
Tomorrow I see my T and will tell her what's been going on. Maybe she can call him to see what the deal is. So many questions are running through my head like maybe my pdoc wants me off my meds, maybe he's spiting me 'cause he's annoyed that I called twice in one week to get my meds filled, or maybe he's sick. I know he's not dead as I think someone would have said something by now (I would hope so). I'm thinking of heading down to his office on Wed. to get a paper script if he won't call them in. I'm also hoping that they still give out samples of Geodon to get me through until my meds come in the mail. Not sure if there are Ambien samples. I know that solely being on an antidepressant is not good for people who have bipolar, but I'm so afraid of coming off that too and then sinking into despair on top of the withdrawal from Geodon and Ambien. This is not a good situation. Thanks for listening. Last edited by cybermember; Oct 25, 2010 at 08:11 PM. |

The worst was when i changed doctors and my new doc hadn't received my file so couldn't write my script and so was without for around 2 weeks! I was a mess! I hope it doesn't get that far for you and you get your script sorted! Keep us posted

Have you contacted your insurance company, not just the pharmacy, to make sure that they had a script submitted for you? Sometimes, the pharmacy can lose things like that, but there is always a record at the insurance company!
Just suggesting, since I used to be a pharmacy tech! ![]() I hope things work out asap!!

Can the pharmacy step in for you? Or do you have a GP (MD) that can prescribe your meds for you? I find my GP is much easier to get hold of and can help me out in situations like this. Or I can beg and plead with my pharmacist, who can see on their system that I've been on these meds for ages.
It will be terribly detrimental if you don't get the meds.

Since my anxiety is kicking in I called my pdocs office to asked the receptionist if he is on vacation or sabbatical and they said no. I mentioned that I initially called a week ago for meds and he hasn't called them in. They then transferred me to medical records to leave another message. I then hung up.
About 15 min. later I call back and asked if I could get an appt. to see him this week as I'm going to run out of meds. The receptionist was nice and took all my info and what meds I need and said that she will personally deliver the message to my pdoc. My pdoc doesn't come in until noon today so I'm not sure what will happen with my message between then. Tomorrow I'll check with my pharmacy again and if there still aren't any new scripts then I will definitely be heading down to pdocs office tomorrow as well. Off to see T. |

Saw T. First thing she did was call my pdoc, but of course all she could do was leave a message with the receptionist to have him call her regarding my meds. Ugh. T was so calm and seems to have faith that pdoc will call in my meds within a couple of days, but did say that pdoc was irresponsible in not calling my pharmacy when he said he would when I needed meds. Personally, I don't have faith that pdoc will call. Call me cynical. I said to my T that I'm asking for help and my pdoc is not there.
T and I went over Plans A, B, and C. Plan A is to give my pdoc till Friday to call them in. Plan B is to go down to my pdocs office on Monday (not tomorrow, Wed.) and ask for a physical script and samples. If that doesn't work then Plan C is hospitalization until SOMEONE can give me a script to put me back on track. But I guess if i get to Plan C then I would have to find another pdoc. Sigh. |

I really feel for you. I know from personal experience(psychotic episode) that stopping Geodon abruptly is not a good idea. My regular GP's office has done the same thing to me twice now. Last time they didn't call it in for almost a week. I really hope you get things straightened out soon.

Andydontsurf, what happened when you stopped Geodon abruptly?

I don't wanna scare you but as I mentioned I got really manic and it turned into psychosis. Geodon is definitely one that you need to taper off of if you have to stop it for some reason.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Andydontsurf. I suspected abruptly stopping Geodon would not be a good thing.
Saw my T mid afternoon yesterday and the first thing she did was call my pdoc. Of course all she could do was leave a message regarding my meds and for him to call her, but T did relay that I was experiencing undo stress from trying to have my pdoc call in scripts for the past week. But with T calling, my pdoc finally called in my scripts last night! Yay! ![]() I want to thank everyone for their support during this stressful time. I was about to lose it, but with your support I didn't. Thank you! ![]() |
