I quit taking all my meds and now I don't know if I want to go back on them. I don't even know how I'd go about it. I keep telling myself maybe I don't need them anymore but I'm not sure anymore... I just feel really low right now.

Why did you stop taking them? Can you go to your p-doc and talk about that and titrate up again, or get others that don't cause you to want to quit?
For me, when I quit, it's because I don't want to wake up and be who I was without them.........this sounds like it doesn't make sense, but it works that way because if I do take the meds, I still have bad days, and if I don't take them, more of the days are the same, even if they are bad, and it is less of a downer to lose the good days......Now, is that stupid, or what? So, I take them. And, I take them because other people in my life need me to be as stable as possible. It's taken me a long time to care about that...But, finally, I do now. ![]() |

I have been down this road so many times it isn't funny anymore! I strongly suggest you call your pdoc and talk to him/her about meds. Why did you go off them? Maybe if you didn't like what you were taking or it wasn't working you can try something else? Or if your pdoc doesn't listen go to a new one?
PLEASE PLEASE consider going back on your meds. I don't want to see you in a "bad" place ![]()

I've also stopped my meds before. Some are REALLY going to land you up with serious side-effects if you stop them suddenly. Our meds also keep us stable, and stop the depression and mania. Stopping meds will bring this about again.
I stopped my meds when I felt they weren't helping me; I still should have rather consulted with my pdoc and adjusted my meds. I'm in a very similar boat now, where I don't feel the meds are helping as they should, but i've kept on them, and am seeing my pdoc later to get them adjusted. I know something HAS to change.

I've said before how many times I've stopped meds, and how it doesn't work for me. While I hope it works for you, maybe talking to your doctor so they can keep an eye on you to make sure you stay ok would be a good idea.

tottaly understand where your coming from i have a pro's and cons sheet on my computer i have three sheets printed up i have one taped up on each bathroom mirror and one on my nightstand. for why i should continue taking my meds. cause i am notorious for stopping. every pill i have to remind myself why. i think well i'm all better arnt i or i go the polar opposite and say well it's not doing anything anyways. my mind constantly plays tricks on me. and instead of calling my pdoc i make rash decisions cause i know whats best

I stopped my meds on two occasions and both times it caused a lot of problems. It depends a lot on which meds they are and whether you stop suddenly (for some meds). Some meds must be cut down gradually otherwise there can be severe side-effects. If you stopped suddenly, your current feelings might be due to the withdrawal. Give it a while to settle down. Then you can decide whether you need the meds. Good luck.

I stopped taking my meds once and it ended up being really bad. It's usually not a good idea to quit your meds without doctor's consent.
I hope you'll consider talking with your pdoc and asking what they think. If they think meds would be the best idea, then please consider going back on them! Meds are there to help you. ![]() |

I was on lithium for bipolar and other stuff for anxiety and depression. I stopped taking them cause i didn't believe I was bipolar or depressed. I didn't really think I needed them...
