I thought this would be a good FYI for people. If you are taking Seroquel please WATCH your heart rate. I was on it for a year and it would occasionally make mine spike after taking it for about ten to fifteen minutes, which I told my doctor about, so we cut it back.

Then last month my heart rate went up and didn't go down. It was really scary I ended up in the emergency room and my resting heart rate is still high while the drug that otherwise did good things for me is working it's way slowly out of my system.

So PLEASE keep an eye out because even if you don't have anxiety this will make you a total wreck.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the tip, or rather, confirmation. I just got off Seroquel a couple weeks ago and I did have issues with heart rate, although nothing too serious, just enough to add to my already large anxiety issues. Good to know that maybe getting off the Seroquel will help that!

I was just put on seroquel a few weeks ago and have not had any heart rate changes, although I am on a beta blocker for high blood pressure so that might be keeping the "side effect" at bay. I have researched the heart rate issues with seroquel and it is a common side effect. What I read recomended not taking it if it effect your heart rate. Thanks for this information, I sure it will be very helpfull to others.

I took 50mg and ended up in the ER with a zombie-like panic attack with racing heart and atrial fibrillation. At the same time, the sedative effects had me nearly knocked out. That's the most bizarre thing I've ever felt. I had panic symptoms, but I was so sedated that I couldn't really feel any of them, or even care. My wife called the ambulance because I fell to the floor and could not move. They shot me up with ativan and gave me beta blockers in the ER. After a few hours, the AFib was gone and my heart had returned to normal. Then they had me come in a couple weeks later and do an EKG and then wear a heart monitor for 24 hours...everything was perfectly normal. Pretty obvious that seroquel is to blame. Pdoc told me to never take it again, and I never will. I haven't had any problems since.

I agree, watch out!
