Hi and welcome...I'am a rapid cycler..From one extreme to another..My moods can change rather quickly..I can change moods ...as fast as someone can blink..Well it feels that way at times...But after being diagnosed ..My moods have gotten better ..Well because of the meds..But i still have days that i go through alot of mood changes...You have come to the right place for support ..I truly felt alone at times and had nobody i could talk to and that would understand me...But here i found all that and more...Hope you find this site to be helpful ....

No professional has said that I rapid cycle, but I suspect I do. I have several episodes in a row. In the last two years(since diagnosis) I have had at least 8 or 9 episodes and I think the criteria is 4 per year. I also have what I call mini episodes where it isn't a full on swing, but a swing within a larger swing. It's hard to explain.

Welcome EveryonesBabySister.
There is a whole bunch of us track cyclists here, but we don't all chirp at the same time... some cyclical issue... I think... Some of us don't have time to talk when we're skipping on the clouds or getting burned on the moon, while at other times we can't get our fingers to reach the keyboard from the dungeon. But the odds are there is always someone willing to chat. Hope to see you around. TS |

I've considered myself a rapid cycler...although I think much of that comes from my emotional intensity...
I believe that with bipoar I spent Sep - Dec in depression....Jan - March Manic...Apr - present in depression and during that time my Emotional intensity I would say made it feel like I was all over the place... I've spent most of the last 6 months working on the emotional intensity which helps me sort out which one is doing what to me...feel free to join me in the borderline personality disorder forums... See you around!

Well the first time I went through rapid cycling (about 20 years ago I quickly found out it has nothing to do with going top speed on a bicycle. It's more like crying at the bottom of the pit one moment and jumping up to go spend $300 on not so necessary stuff the next moment. This happens many times a day. It drives my payee crazy. That's just one example but it just goes on & on. I want off this rolllercoaster.

One of the joys of "this rollercoaster" is the faster you cycle, the quicker the chickens come home to roost after you have "done things".
e.g. you enthusiastically set up a whole lot of interviews to market a new product you invented and make huge promises over the phone while you are supercharged and full of energy, then a week later you crash, and people want to see you and have you present your great ideas about what you can do for their company. All you want to do is die, make the whole world go away and deal with its own problems.... And the chicks aren't hatching one by one, you laid a million of them, so they arrive on an ocean liner, and all demand your attention with frustration that you don't see them all as the most important one in the universe. |
