I am on FMLA for my BP and borderline. My boss told me that my FMLA was only for unexpected illness and not for my appointments. He really upset me the way he said it. I feel like I am stupid. I don't know why. I feel really angry with him. He also said that I need to watch it because of business needs here at work. I just want to quit so badly.
Does anyone else have issues with their jobs and fmla?

He's actually incorrect I think. As I understand it, FMLA can be used for chronic conditions and it can be used for follow up appointments if they are for the same reason for the initial FMLA. He does have the right to have your leave recertified every 30 days to make sure it is still qualified under FMLA. You might want to do a bit of research about the rules and have those ready as back up if this becomes a problem.

Farmer is absolutely correct - the FMLA you would take for appointments is called Intermittent Medical Leave and you can take it as needed and do not have to make up the time, by law. It does need to be for the particular condition you were approved for leave for. It is also illegal for your boss to give you a hard time about this. I'm not sure how large a company you work for, but I would go straight to Human Resources and get everyone on the same page.
