I think I need to up the meds again, but just posting to see if anyone else have a flashback problem, like i'm doing a task and then suddenly something that I regret doing or something someone said to me awhile back from ages ago to like a week ago could pop in and keep replaying in my head, now that i'm aware of it, I don't get that many fit of crying spells, so that is good. I guess it could aggravated by the hot weather these days.

Your not alone. I still get flashbacks of my past. Even from childhood till last two years. I am sure we are not alone on this.

Happens to me too. Then I can't let the thought go and I rumination. My psychologist gave me a tool to use when I get like that. She said to visualize a container with a lid (mine is a blue ceramic jar with a cork lid). When the thoughts come open the container and put the thought inside it and put on the lid. Know that if you really need to you can take the worry out again. I find I have to do it over and over until it works.

I have the exact same problem. I'll make a mistake, or someone will say something that upsets me, and a little while later I'll start obsessing over it. Or my brain will get on tracks of everything I've ever done wrong, and I'll remember things that I've screwed up from a long time ago...

That's a really good tip, Anneinside. I'll have to try it.

I share the same story as you guys. It happens to me a lot. I'll be doing something like driving down the road and just randomly start remembering times where I messed up in front of people and embarrass myself. It doesn't stop until I yell at my thoughts. It's a really horrible feeling.

I am exactly the same, it got so bad that I started freaking out if I had to drive anywhere coz I'd get panic attacks from the random thoughts....

I feel like just in general I associate a lot of my new experiences with situations I've dealt with in the past. I bring a lot of preconceived notions to new situations and this has been causing me problems both at work and with relationships. I really worry about my future if I'm not able to let goof bad things that happened in the past.

Yes I understand It happens to me mostly at night time when I cant sleep Old memories resurface and torment me to the point of tears and pulling my hair nealrly out. I remember one night the memories became so intense I knocked my head off the wall...I did this trying to 'knock' the memories out of my head but ended up banging it too hard nearly knocking myself out Anyway, I have a crisis number I call now before it gets to that point again,

Sending you love and hugs

This happens to me a whole lot too. Some memories of the past will slip into my brain and make me freak out, get all sorts of upset and trigger me really badly.

My therapist is working on this with me. She is trying to teach me to do some sort of meditation that when the thoughts or memories come crashing in to just notice them and then go back to concentrating on my breathing.

It is really difficult to do though and she told me it takes a lot of practice. She also told me that when these thoughts or memories come in to focus my sight on something like a plant outside or even a blade of grass. This takes you away from the memories or thoughts and help you to focus on something different.
