So I posted something about this a little while ago, or at least, I mentioned this in a post... But I'm currently on about 15mg of Abilify and it's really starting to cause me some restless leg syndrome. It's interfering with school, and that's not good.
We called my pdoc yesterday but he wasn't there so he'd call back today, but so far havent' heard from him. Until then, does anyone have any suggestions of how to deal with restless legs when you're stuck in a classroom with a teacher talking to the whole class? And also, for those who have taken Abilify (I've seen some say this has happened to them too), did this last the entire time you had the high dosage or did it go away eventually? Thanks!

I'm on Latuda and it causes restless legs as well. I was prescribed something for them and it didnt work. Klonopin works sometimes, if you have any of that. My mom sometimes uses warming cream on the back of her legs and she says that helps sometimes too.

I get restless legs because I have nerve disorders. Basically what helps me are warm showers or some of that heat releasing cream & to have opportunities regularly to be able to walk around a bit. The exercise really does regulate the muscles so that the synapses stop misfiring as often. If you're USING the muscles, it gives them less of an opportunity to present you with an unpleasant sensation. Tell your teacher about your restless legs & possibly request a seat near the back so it's not as much of a disruption. And when you have to stay seated, just bounce your legs or tap your feet. That's about as much advice as I have, other than stuff like low doses of klonipin or ativan. Those are notorious for not helping with concentration :P

I'm on 30 mg of abilify and I've noticed this too. It has almost gone away with exercise (walking). I find I can also will myself to control it by changing the position of my legs while I'm sitting. My doc has offered me meds, as have others' to them, so there is that option, too.

Hi I used to suffer with this for years until someone in my fibromyalgia group showed me a scientific article of the benefits of drinking red bush tea. I started drinking it around 4 years ago now and very rarely does it come back. Its purchased in any store in a regular tea bag and its caffeine free. Particularly beneficial on a night time. Maybe it will help you? Its worth a try at such little cost Take care JK |

Cogentin usually helps with the restlessness as was already mentioned.

Finally got medication for it! I don't know how it works yet since I start it tomorrow, but I got medication to take care of the feeling. I really hope it does the trick.
It starts with a 'P' if anyone knows what it might be? Like... Propanol or something like that...

I have been on 5mgs abilify for about a year and a half. I have the restless body syndrome too and take cogentin for it, which helps a bit. However, I was still having issues with what I thought was restless legs and my GP put me on requip, and I haven't had a night since with bad restless legs. We are going to try to get me off of the cogentin since the requip does the same and possibly better job.

Tell me how that med works for you Hydro! Hopefully it stops your symptoms. I might try it, myself, if it works well! It's probably a bit cheaper than Requip. If so, that would be lovely!
