as you all know im having a real hard time. Ive been working with the veterans suicide chat line online for some time now. they want me to either self present to the hospital or allow them to call me. I wont give them my phone number because i fear that they'll have the police track me down. I dont really want to go to the hospital for fear of not being taken seriously. I mean how can you take someone serious who keeps coming in for the same thing. But on the other hand i dont want to do anything stupid and hurt my family.

So i guess what im asking is when should i say enough and either give the power to someone else,

or go to the hospital,

or should i just do nothing.

the reason i turn here is my family does not understand, i have lost all of my friends, and the only person who got me died 6 years ago.

It sucks not being normal......

If the VA is gonna cover your stay, and you got the time to take off work (don't know your situation), go to the hospital. Its better safe than sorry and since you'll be in a controlled environment, the doctors will have an easier time finding a better treatment plan for you.
I battled on my own for 20 years. Then one day it was all too much for me to handle. When that woman offered to drive me to the ER, i thought about the money for about 2 seconds then said "let's do this." Sometimes you gotta be strong enough to realize you can't do it on your own anymore.
Good luck

It is a must, if feeling suicidal, that you present yourself to the hospital for help. This is the advice that my doctor gave me when I was considering hurting myself and, although I have never gone to the hospital because of one reason or another, I would not hesitate to do so should I ever feel like hurting myself again.

If you feel that you cannot make it to the hospital because of some physical reason, call the police and ask them to take you to the nearest hospital. They are trained in these situations to do this without question.

Whatever else you do, go to the hospital. They will contact your doctor for you and then they will begin treating your condition.

Good luck. When you begin to get treatment, you begin to get better.

If you don't want to make the choice on if you go to the hospital then give that power to someone you can trust that understands your situation to make a decision and will choose what is in your best interest. If there is nobody that you can trust to make that decision then you have to make it yourself. Manicminer is right about it being safer because it is a controlled environment. Doctors and nurses who understand your situation and BP in general are there with a goal of helping you get better.
Doing nothing will not help you any. It may make the situation worse.
