I was just looking at a website that sells crystals and stones. I am not sure if any of that is recognized by medical science, but I do believe that everything from nature has a vibration and different stones can relieve vibrations that humans have that ail them.

Having said that, I have never really worked with stones, but I was thinking today that it wouldn't hurt me, and if there is no real effect that maybe it would have a placebo effect.

On the site I went on, there were three stones that came up in the "ailment" search engine. They are Charoite, Larimar and Lepidolite. I am not sure if the link will work, but if you can, check it out. I am probably going to order at least some Lepidolite jewelry and something to keep in my room to help me sleep.

Who knows, maybe it works.

Has anyone used stones to help with bipolar symptoms? Did it work?

Now this is just me & my experience.
Have had all three of these stones in my jewelry collection for years. Rings, pendants, beads & wands. Way, way before the general public was into this kind of thing & way before opaque stones in general were popular.

I have noticed absolutely no difference in how I feel, physically or mentally.

Before you spend alot of money, wait for some more opinions on here & try alittle more research on internet.

Good luck, ya never know.
Thanks for this!

From another site:

Lepidolite: A purple Lithium containing Mica stone ( and/or visa versa). Lithium is used extensively in psychiatric medicine for it's calming properties and particularly for treating Bipolar disorder. In Crystal Healing Lepidolite is a powerful and effective anti anxiety stone and will help reduce symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress and decrease anger and depression.

I think that it would be pretty cool to wear Lithium around my neck. It can be my own private reminder that I am working hard to heal myself, and others can admire it too. Maybe if I have a really bad day, I can lick it, ha ha ha.

I spent seven years seeking stabilization through alternative medicine using crystals, hypnotherapy, energy medicine, hands on healing techniques. I trained under a master and became a hands on healer discoving i had quite a talent and took part in some beautiful things working to help others heal that i could only describe as miraculous. wonderful success stories. I spent a lot of money in my quest for balance in my life. I never felt so alive than when i was doing energy work, that connection to the universe so powerful. my rapid thoughts made meditation impossible, but my dissociative skills were an asset in working with others. It was all so wonderful and facinating.

Unfortunately, when it came to my own mental health and stopping the rapid cycling that plagued my life things only became worse. random crystals, musical tones would bring up feelings of terror. the guided imagery and soul retrievals brought back shards of unidentifiable fear. all i did in that time was surface a bunch of trauma for myself.

sorry for going off on that tangent there. its just that i invested so much in believing alternative sources could be the answer i had to share my story. so crystals themselves do carry energy that focuses on certain things, but on their own, it really isnt enough to cure or significant address an ailment.

Oh my goodness, this mental image made me laugh so hard I scared the cats. Thank you

To be honest I'd get it just because it's a very pretty stone and I like the color. (I'm kind of like a bird, I get easily distracted by shiny things, lol) I'm not sure how effective it'd actually be as remedies go, alas.

I'm not thinking that it would replace meds or anything, but I like the idea of it. I was doing a little more reading this afternoon, and I think with the help of a ritual using the crystals/stones, I can find something that I can do to relax me, and that may have an effect on my every day life as a bipolar person.
Thanks for this!

I have also read some articles about the healing powers of certain stones .
I have a bracelet I made from hand picked stones.. I do feel better when i wear it .. I dont know if it actually makes me feel better or its more in my mind . Either way ..I love that I picked the stones and went thru the process of actually making the bracelet ...

I dont discount any kind of help when it comes to managing bipolar ..

Good Luck and Keep us informed on how its working for you

A little off bipolar humor- maybe we could all get the stones and wear them like people who have those medic alert necklaces or the wristbands for the different physical illnesses.
Thanks for this!

I'm not one for believing in crystal healing myself, but this actually makes sense to me. As long as you're not replacing your meds, I can't see how it could hurt, and even the placebo effect could go a long way for you. Good luck, I'm curious to see how this turns out for you.
Thanks for this!

I'm glad to see you say this after your first post! I almost responded right away but didn't want to be discouraging. I think you have the right outlook on it here. My mom was really into crystals and stones and energy medicine. But I can't say that it helped her in any fashion other than placebo effect, and perhaps supporting mindfulness practices, which can be incredibly valuable for healing.

I think using crystals/stones to support a healing ritual that is for relaxation is a great idea. (so long as you're not ditching your meds for it...) Whatever helps you get peace of mind!

I have a handful of very nice quartz crystals that were my moms (she escaped this plane of existence in 2007). I don't have any use for them, they just gather dust. If you want to PM me a mailing address, BNLsMOM, I would be happy to send a couple of them to you (but no pressure if that's uncomfortable to you!) It would make me happy to think that they were making someone else happy.
Thanks for this!

Thank you for your offer, but I would rather not send my address to anyone. I feel like it would take some anonymity away. I appreciate that you are willing to give me something that once belonged to your mother.

I had a chance to get to a New Age store today. I found two of the three varieties of stones that I was looking for. One was even ready to be made into a necklace. I also found a Tibetan Singing Bowl for a reasonable price. Successful shopping trip.

Actually I would suggest red jasper instead. It is usually very affordable.

Quote:
Red Jasper Gemstone meaning

A strong protection gemstone, red jasper is known to protect against hazards of the night. Red jasper is very lucky for actors. Jasper is one of the oldest known gemstones. It is mentioned in the Bible several times. Jasper is a strong securing gemstone. It is a stability gemstone. It is a powerful protection against things that are not good for you and it eases emotional stresses, making it a wonderful gemstone to have in your home.

Jasper gives one the courage to speak out and have personal independence. It also protects from fears in the night. Red jasper is thought to help balance the energy in the body. All jaspers help balance the emotional energy in the body.

Healing properties of Jasper
Jasper comes in many colors. All colors of Jasper will help balance the vibrations of the body. Jasper is slow to show a change to the person, but is such a basic "good" stone that one should always have it on hand.

Red Jasper helps with the sense of smell. It also promotes physical energy.

Crystals are part of my healing process. Or process of staying sane. And yeah, i have lepolite in my collection too. I love to clutch on my crystals when it acute distress and it helps me ground. When languages sounds strange and I don't know what year it is, because time makes little sence... they help to bring me back to the ground. I have a hematite to channel my negative energies into. It helps. A lot.

I have funny story with a crystal. does about bipolar though. But I gotten myself ametyst (sp?) which turns negative energies into love for my trip to Balkans. One evening the Albanians were telling us about garlic decorations and dolls to protect houses from evil spirits and other stuff. Then they noticed I been playing with my necklace charm. I explained what it is and they told me: "crystals? You are so supersticious!"

That's pretty funny. I made my charoite into a necklace with a leather cord. The length makes it sit right at my heart.

I have a room that I made for myself in my house. It needs to be cleaned out because it has become the junk room. After I clean it out I will smudge it with sage, and it will be my meditation/art/nap room. I was reading about making altars, and it seems like a nice idea, so I might do that.

This is all stuff I used to be interested in before bipolar came into the scene. Suddenly after a week of Invega, I am feeling the interest coming back. It's even close to enthusiasm. Looking at it with a grain of salt, though. I don't want it to be a hypomanic burst. So far I don't feel hypomanic. I want to have an identity and have something I can teach the kids.
