It's 2:20 am, and i'm still not asleep. I took ambien, 2 klonopin, and 2 benedryl around 9 pm. I hope this isn't a manic phase coming on.

I slept my usual 12 hrs tuesday night and monday night, but sunday i was up all night too. errrr....

You are not alone! I struggle most nights, but always have so nothing new.
Do hope you aren't going into a manic phase though.
My (sleepless)... thoughts are with you.

Same here. They have me on 2-2mg Lunesta, Klonopin and Mirtazapine and I still go through sleepless phases. I stopped going to bed because the dread of rolling around in the bed for hours got to be too much. This time I am going on about 5 weeks of this. Most of the time this only lasts about 1 to 2 weeks then I will sleep ok for a 1 or 2 weeks.

deja, do you take naps during the day? reason I ask is cause not sleeping much, sometimes not at all at night, I am tired all day long. Then after supper which is anywhere from 5p-8p, I'm toast, literally wake up catching myself falling out of a chair or wake up right before hitting my head on keyboard.

So I come back here to bedroom, prop up on pillows, try & stay awake to watch tv. Wake up 2-3 hrs later, don't know if it's day or night time. Then don't sleep at night. This whole cycle has gotten a lot worse since June. None of that sleep hygiene stuff has ever worked for me.

Anyway just wondering if you sleep any with your episodes or take naps.
I used to nap only on a rare occasation??

Maybe for now just sleep when you can deja, IDK.
Thanks for this!

I have never been able to take naps. Not even short 20 minute naps. If I did I could not sleep at all that night. I have had that problem since I was a kid.

As an adult I started having interrupted sleep where I would sleep for about an hour and awake for about two hours. But it did not bother me during the day.

Over the past year or so that changed to getting about 5 to 10 to 15 hours a week. Then I usually have a crash night where I sleep from about 10 pm to about 9 am. I talked to my PDoc about all of this and he said that I would not get well (stable) if I could not get sleep. They put me on sleep aid after sleep aid till I ended up on the combo I mentioned in the other post. This worked for about 6 months and now it seems to come in phases. I go through a period of a few weeks where I get six or so hours a night of sleep then I go into this no sleep period. I really do not get tired as a result of this. I do drag sometimes but it does not happen that often.

During my TDoc visit yesterday he told me that I need to call my PDoc today to see if she could try new meds for this. My thoughts were something in the category of wild game tranquilizers. HAHA

Good luck with this ... and definitely talk to your PDoc about this.

some times "pretending to sleep" can really help, the body needs it rest, but the racing thoughts get in the way,, so what i used to do when i had that problem, was to "daydream",, i would build houses, or design gardens, and focus as hard as i could on just that, nothing else, and then i would wake up~! it is a little bit like hypnosis, done to yourself, with no goal... hope it helps, if you try it,, best wishes, Gus

i finally went to bed at 3:30 am, and slept until 10:30, when my husband woke me up. I am so irritable today. I just feel like shaking people.

I find that the visualization exercises work very well for me, although sometimes I need to use other relaxation methods first. I often fall asleep into the scene I visualize. Nothing else really works for me.

I go through this every few weeks especially when its a full moon week. It drives me crazy- who can't sleep after 2 klonopin and a couple of drinks? me. Or even a sleeping pill. That's when I know I'm "special", but when 2 or 3 nights without sleep turns into a week, I get manic.

Stay away from the computer when you can't sleep, I know its easier said then done, I do it- head for the computer- that way you feel like you are not alone or bored but the positive ions emitted only keep you awake more.

What has worked for me the last few times, was a hot bath with bath salts and a cup of sleepy-time tea. I actually fell asleep in the tub twice- I woke up though- that's why I'm writing now lol.

Good luck to you

Im sorry your having such a time ..I tried all the sleep meds some worked for a couple weeks some never did .. right now my current meds are

Seroquel xr 100 mg at nite tapering off
Risperdal 2mg at nite
xanax 1 mg at nite
FLexaril 10mg at nite
Halcion .5mg at nite

One would think all that would put an elephant down... well for me it doesnt all the time ...If i dont sleep I get stupid fast..

I have found every time I have a week where i dont sleep much I wind up doing a voluntary admit to a psych ward because I am no where nor have ever really found myself stable (yet)... So my Pdoc and T and i keep very close tabs on my sleepp..

Im going to try some of the ideas others have posted .

I hope your able to get some rest
