I just started taking meds for High Blood Pressure and I feel horrible.
But my mood is the pits. I swing from near tears to wanting to tell my boss to kiss off. I am upset about every little thing. I am so tired. I ache all over. All of these are side effects of High Blood Pressure meds. I called the doc and made an appointment to see about a med change. But I was looking up all the different kinds of meds and checking all of their side effects and they all cause mood problems, you can be tired and the flu symptoms. What do you do? A med that causes a mood problem isn't help to someone with a mood disorder. I feel like I have to make a big life choice now and decide if I would rather die early and have everyone say "gee what a nice lady" than live to be 80 and have everyone say "gee it sure took that crazy b**** a long time to go". grumble, grumble, grrrr

Is this your general doc prescribing the high blood pressure meds? Do you have a separate pdoc for your psych meds? Do they communicate with each other?
In addition to the general side effects of some medicines, they may also cause interactions where one med will decrease (or increase) the effects of another. You might not only be having the side effect, but this could be messing with some of your psych meds. Your pdoc needs to be on board with any other meds you might be taking and it would be really great if the two docs could talk to each other about it. If there's any confusion about med interactions, your pharmacist is also available for consultation. You don't have to choose between an early grave or crazy longevity. I hope the docs can help you find something that works soon.
