Every time I have gotten close to getting a job in the last year, I have suffered enormous panic attacks. Last night it was so bad I thought my boyfriend was going to have to drive me to a hospital again. I actually just called and quit a job I got yesterday because the anxiety is so bad. I need a job, but I can't function when I get one. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? Am I just weird and need to suck it up and just deal with getting a job?

I'm sorry you go thru that, it must be terrible. I have never experienced anything worse than the usual run of the mill anxiety that comes with starting something new and being apprehensive or uncertain. It's almost like butterflies in the stomach feeling, but the butterflies are ostriches. Can a fast acting benzo not help you? I used to carry a tiny brown bag on my person when I used to get panic attacks, carbon dioxide killed them quite quickly in my experience. I hope someone posts who can help...

I think you should see a therapist who specializes in desensitizing and flooding. The best and most painful way of getting through a phobia is to experience it over and over until it doesnt have the same effect or power. They can reduce the anxiety to a level where you may need something for the anxiety but it wont have the same ovetwhelming fear attached.
