I've been on Quitiapine for over a year now, and it's only just dawned on me (after decreasing and increasing my dose) that ironically...the more Quitiapine I take, the worse and more vivid my nightmares are.

Where's the irony? Sorry. I should have mentioned before, that I just find it ironic that an antipsychotic gives me worse nightmares. Nightmares I can actually feel pain in.

Am I the only one that's noticed increased dreams/nightmares on quitiapine?

I had one very vivid nightmare from which I woke up in horror. Also in the beginning I had auditory hallucinations. As the dose was increased, I developed HORRIBLE akathisia. That caused me to ask to be taken off it and put on Lithium instead. But not only akathisia - it simply did not help against my mania.

Well....

I don't have experience with any psychdrugs... but as dreams go, I heard that dreaming prevents us from going crazy. You dream the bad **** to get it out of the system, sort of. So maybe they cannot really be supressed?

There is one excercise/meditation where you can program not to remember dreams. Though I never managed to do it. Worked for others though.

I remember having vivid dreams when I took Seroquel. There were times when I couldn't tell if the dreams were real or just dreams.

Omg yes I sure did have bad dreams. Very vivid dreams. I was always hurting someone or getting hurt or something bad that could be real was happening and I was crazy or something. Getting beat up a lot in my dreams. It was weird because yes I have been in a fight before but I am no you fighter. Much more of a lover. I dont know what to tell you about what to do. I had to get off of it. Eventually I didnt sleep at all because I would wake up with nightmares, you know the kind that when you wake up your sort of out of breath and stunned. Either that or I would just sit up straight out of my sleep wide awake. Strange things happened on that med. It also made me gain so much weight that I can not get off.
