I am Bipolar 1 with Psychotic Ideations and I am not a success story. My life is messed up and always will be since my BP1 goes into heavy hard manic episodes and there is just no way to hide the stigma that I am. I misunderstand
left and right and my ideations get me into trouble especially with my wife. Sure medications help, but in my case I need to be heavily medicated to be able to go out into society without causing any trouble and also chaperoned by my wife or someone trustworthy.

It's not that I am a kid or act like one at 56, but I can get into an altercation with someone who disagrees with me when I am manic. So in other words, I am too darn bipolar 1 to be left alone for too long. If I go out a the house in a bad mood, and someone out there starts to stare at me, then I can stare back like I did this morning. But thinking back on it playing it over in my mind, I now realize he meant me no harm and it was I being the aggressors.

This is what being bipolar 1 w/ psychotic Ideation is for me. Of course there are varied degrees and intensities as differences where bipolar 1 is concerned But I am only relating here my personal experience and diagnoses and not suggesting a model for everyone. What do others here understand about this and please share your experiences, thanks.

Welcome to PC, BP1 Glad you joined us---we're a pretty easy-to-get-along-with bunch, especially when we stay on our meds, LOL.

Sure sorry you've got such a bad case. There is no such thing as an 'easy' case of bipolar, but I can't even imagine having the kind of issues you're describing. I'm wondering if you've tried any of the newer, more experimental treatments like trans-magnetic stimulation (TMS), or ECT for the intractable symptoms? It seems like there has to be something more for you out there so that you don't have to live like this.

I'm older too, will be 54 in a few months and was just diagnosed w/ BP this past winter, so there's no age limit to this crap is there? Anyway, welcome to the 'family' and I hope you enjoy posting here.

Geez louise, doesn't being chaperoned make you more aggro? It definitly would me... Can't imagine what your life must be like, sounds like you have no control, I'm a control freak by nature, so that's my number 1 battle with my bp. sorry, didn't mean to ramble, hope you like it here with us

I can sorta relate to you. Just the other day someone was jaywalking while I was parked at a red light in my head I was begging him to say something to me so I could go off on him. I will cut people off purposely if they don't use their signal light or if they are going to slow or any minor thing to annoy me. Oh and don't you dare screw up my food order, I will tear a strip off of them. People calling to sell me something or even when they have a wrong number get their ear chewed off if I am irritable. If I am in a good mood tho I will play with them, make them wait on hold for 10 mins or say absurd things to them that I won't mention on here heehee. Welcome to the group, it's helped me lots even if it is just knowing I'm not alone
Thanks for this!

Welcome to the forum
LOL at Christy above, I recently got irate at a collections call. I owe them for 2 ambulence rides and I yelled at the guy, I have bipolar disorder why are you doing this to me - you're just trying to piss me off and make me go crazy and call another ambulence so you can make more money!! Looking back, wasn't the best thing for my blood pressure, but really, collection callers are jerks haha.
Thanks for this!

Starting to feel better already that I'm not the only one here who goes off on people from having bipolar 1.

@Trippin2.0- I do go out riding my Harley alone but then I am in auto-check since I look so mean and nasty like I could hurt someone, Lol.

I was diagnosed back in 1997 by a good Jewish doctor after a manic episode that led to 5 assault and battery charges on 5 officers at the same time. Anyway, I was taken straight to the hospital psych ward instead of jail since my wife walked up and said she thought I was bipolar. So here I am in 2012 with my bipolar 1 diagnoses, but out a prison and sober thanks to my higher power. I am on and off my meds so much I sometimes lose track of the whole med thing, but my wife helps me out and gets it all back in order for me again, bless her heart. :-)

I have nothing to offer anyone here save for my own experiences with BP1 over the years and I hope I can help as much as be helped. hugs
