It's hard to imagine another ten years like this. All the do tors and specialists have given up on me after ten years. I just returned from a visit from a pain management specialist. I read the info on their website before I went there. They said they had a team of specialists from all over the coup try and they approached pain by addressing the whole person. Three specialists went over my medical history and asked me questions for an hour. They left to consult eachother. They returned 30 minutes later and told me there is nothing they can do for me. The brutal migraines continue with the depression and fibromyalgia. The pain has been off the charts the last few days making me vomit constantly. I think I need a good witch doctor now.

Ouch Im sorry to hear that. I cant imagine what that must be like, but for doctors to give up is just unacceptable, find a new one.

Have you tried alternative medicine I found accupuncture helped my depression and I was able to do it in a research study so it did not cost me anything.

Awwwwwwwww Blue

I'm so sorry you went thru all that mess basically with no help. I also suffer the pain of fibro .. My pain level is always at a 7 or higher . I tried so many meds and pain pills bleh nothing helped me. My GP finally threw his hands and sent me to a pain clinic ..I never went... for me meditation and hypnotherapy has helped me more than anything.

I'm soooo sooo sorry your living with chronic pain..its horrible.

I assume you have tried medicinal marijuana to no avail, Blue? It is the first thing that comes to my mind reading your post. In CA, migraines are on the list of diseases for which you can get a medicinal marijuana script.

I vote acupuncture! I used to suffer mortifying, gut wrenchingly painful kidney infections as a teenager, and believe you me, I'm no sissy. My gp was perplexed, and worried, then he gave me acupuncture once, haven't had any infections or pain there in 12yrs! Idk if it would help, but in my book its worth a shot. those Dr's are moronic jerks!

I've tried so many things over the last ten years. I tried natural remedies first. I've seen a acupuntururist, chiropractor, naturopath, an ayurvedic doctor. I've tried rolfing, neurocranial restructuring, and massage. I've also tried a long list of supplements and herbs. I've also changed my diet. MRIs reveal scars and lesions on my brain. Nothing seems to help so far. I need a witch doctor to deal with the oppression. These episodes trigger the bipolar mood swings so it's all quite an adventure. I 'm just trying to hang on for the ride.

Blue Bless your heart you sure have tried so much to relieve the pain.. I cant think of anything other than hypnotherapy When I started seeing my Tdoc he brought it up and I pretty much rolled my eyes .. I finally caved in one day my pain was so terrible I was at my wits end.. I never believed it in or thought it would help .. but my pain level went down to a 7 and I was amazed. It had only taken 15 minutes.

Blue I so hope you find some kind of relief .

I agree with plumapplepear and trippin about the acupuncture as an alternative. I haven't tried it, but my gp practices acupuncture and offers it one day each week. I assume it is covered by insurance because she is in a regular practice that includes many doctors. I wouldn't imagine that they would allow this treatment if it wasn't endorsed by the management.

Although I support the use of medical marijuana in appropriate cases, it's known to make bipolar worse.

I'm thinking that sometimes, what seems to be migraine may be, in actuality, a form of trigeminal neuralgia. This is a condition of the trigeminal nerve (one of the 12 cranial nerves) which can affect the eye and produce blinding pain on one side of the head and face, much like migraine.

I had one patient who'd had it for over 20 years and never got diagnosed properly; she'd been to every pain specialist in the area and gotten the same song-and-dance you did. The only reason I got suspicious was because my 30-year-old daughter has it, along with chronic 'migraines'. So I asked the patient's MD to consider using Neurontin to see if this would treat the pain, and within a couple of weeks of starting the medication, the woman said she was pain-free......and as far as I know, she stayed that way.

So.......it's a longshot, but what have you got to lose by checking this out? (Unless of course, you've already been down that road and it was ruled out.)
