So today I go into see my med Dr I'm guessing that is what is called a pdoc here and OMG!!! She is the SECOND PERSON in that office to state that I appear to be on frackin drugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then tells me I never talked talked to her about my sons addictions only talked about the fact that I dislocated my knee and was on hydrocodone which I didn't like, that my behaviors need to be dealt with thru counseling duh dumb chick I was in there YESTERDAY.... Argues with me about not speaking to her about my sons addictions then goes on to tell me I have 1 child at home NOT TWO what the CRAP?!?!?! I think this chick is freakin insane!!! OBVIOUSLY you don't take good notes IDIOT if you think I only have one child at home!!!! I DEMANDED that she sends me for a UA which she did thank god!!! Then told her that IF ANYONE THINKS A MOTHER WITH 2 CHILDREN AT HOME IS ON DRUGS THIS SHOULD BE DONE WITHOUT ME DEMANDING IT!!! Then she goes onto tell me that she has seen MANY MANIC people and the fact that I am having a hard time going from one sentence to another is what makes them think I'm using drugs and even IF I am bipolar it doesn't appear to be mania to her!!! WHAT WHAT even IF I'M BIPOLAR what the frackin crap?!?! If I'm NOT BIPOLAR then why am I on these medications WOAH.... How do you switch out of pdocs if that is what it is called if your going thru mental health? This lady took my amazing mood from yesterday and has me going 90 miles an hour again in my head, thinking haha take those UA results and shove them up ur arse and now what?!?!?

I do think you need to switch. If you don't know of others in your area, contact your insurance, they will have a list. Make sure you request psychiatrist and not psychologist (psychiatrist are the med docs or pdocs.) You should not stay with a provider that makes you feel that way. Absolutely not.
I have trouble getting from one setance to another. Not always but sometimes. I don't like any doctor who says "this and this and this is the only way you get this." As you see on the forum we are all similar and yet completely different at the same time. There is not a box big enough to contain bipolar.

I would have asked 'what kind of drugs are YOU taking?'... After her disdainful indignant denial, I would've said, 'oh, so you're just incompetent then...' find a new pdoc, this one's retarded.

I'm confused. You call her a p-doc (=psychiatrist), but you are describing "Then tells me I never talked talked to her about my sons addictions only talked about the fact that I dislocated my knee and was on hydrocodone which I didn't like", which suggests that she is your family physician.

If it's your regular physician that you're talking about, be careful and be sure to see a psychiatrist.
My regular MD gave me anti-depressants, even after I told her I had been diagnosed many years before I started seeing her, and that's what threw me into my most recent hypomanic episode, which lasted for several months. When I read your original post, you referred to "pdoc." I'm fairly new here and guessing "pdoc" is psychiatrist, although that had me confused at first because a psychologist or a Psy. D. are officially "docs" as well, and you could throw a "p" in front of either of those to also call them a "pdoc."

I'm sorry I don't quite understand all the abbreviations, she is my prescribing Dr, I am in Mental Health. I have a prescribing Dr she is the one that I saw today after being blown away by another mental health counselor in the same building with whom I attended a 4 week class for my son to receive counseling. I honestly thought him saying that to me last week just meant that obviously my meds aren't working as well as hoped and I should get my arse into see her with someone making accusations like that. I also have a counselor that I go see who thankfully talked me down today after her getting me so manic I was shaking and calling that stupid B**CH up once I knew she had the results and telling her how disgusted I was that she was a Dr let alone someone in control of prescribing meds and how I realling frackin appreciated her taking such a good feeling yesterday and making it TEN TIMES WORSE!!!!! My counselor thinks it HILARIOUS I made her do a UA, she agrees OBVIOUSLY I'm nowhere near what I need to be as far as my meds. I freak out no joke atleast 1-3 times a week I spin around in circles, my mind NEVER turns off and ugh really I just can't be having any sort of Dr like that pushing me to the point I have been at today I just can't.....

urine analysis, i think - to prove to those people accusing her of being on drugs. she's not on drugs, she's manic.
mmd - so you need to get in with a pdoc/psychiatrist. general docs, especially this one who's been insulting you, don't know enough about psych meds. with your current level of mania, you should qualify for an immediate or emergency appointment. |

Yes urine test, testing for drugs. They can take the results and shove them up their bum too!!! You would think atleast an apology would've been nice. I mean crap I mess up with people and things ALL THE TIME!!! I ALWAYS have to go back to people and say crap I'm sorry I didn't mean to react like that etc etc etc I've accepted it is part of who I am which is why I usually try to deal with REALLY important things over the phone or text because I am not so quick to react by freaking out but whatever ya no apology.

What is your situation in terms of access to mental health care? Do you have private insurance? Government assistance? As far as I know, mental health care through the government, which I have received, always always pairs you with a psychiatrist who is qualified to deal with manic patients, unlike a GP (even though in US GPs have the privilege to prescribe psychiatric drugs). So it sounds like you have a private insurance. right?

Actually I am on OHP which is government insurance at first I was going thru my gp, she had me on 850 mg of seroquil, 2 klonopin a day, hydroxyz pam 50 mg every 6 hours, and one other I forget. I was a ZOMBIE!!! So I made myself get into mental health she took me off everything except 400 mg serquil at night (not the XR) then klonopin 1 mg 2 x per day. At mental health you have a counselor which thank goodness mine is AWESOME and a prescribing Dr which mine is clearly either on drugs or needs to pull her head out of her ***** and start paying attention to what the couselor is saying cuz ya she's a fruitcake. My counselor talked me down yesterday, agrees meds currently on not so effective. I see her Monday we'll see what happens then I guess cuz you know I'm not manic I'm high on drugs...

Where I get mental health care at the county, they conspicuously display "grievance forms". Both doctors that I have had have been very good, so I have never had a need to fill out such forms, but I know they are there for the patients. Look for one where you receive care. Just do not fill it out by yourself - post your draft here and we will help you edit it to arrive at an appropriate version that would get you a new doc.
