So as I've mentioned in another thread, I've been hypomanic for about a week now. But I find that I can still get a full nights sleep every night. Why??? I literally feel like I'm on speed or crack the second I wake up, so why can I fall asleep in the first place? I also yawn a lot during the day, despite the fact that I'm not tired at all. In fact, I'm not even tired when I go to bed, I have racing thoughts and my body feels jittery, and yet I wake up the next morning 7 hours later. It's really confusing me.

Mania can hinder sleep...anyway to get you to slow down speedy?
Tonight before bed try going for a walk or something, then take a nice warm shower, then eat some carbs.

Then go to bed at a timely hour and just clear your mind and count sheep or something. The more u think of stuff, the more ull want to get up and do stuff.

Yes sleeping is healthy and needed.

haha, i think you misunderstood. I'm wondering why I CAN sleep lol. I feel like I'm cracked out, and yet I've had a full night's sleep every night, which confuses me precisely because mania usually hinders sleep.

You can sleep becoz insomnia is a symptom like any other... It doesnt present itself in all of us all the time. Me for instance, I still get sped up, but hardly experience racing thoughs anymore, which makes hypomania harder to spot, cos insomnia is ever-present... It is what it is, be thankful you're free of 1 very unpopular symptom.

that makes sense. okay, thanks! I guess I just thought that insomnia was kind of a must to be considered hypomania, which was confusing to me as i feel so sped up and have racing thoughts and am really jittery. i feel like i had 10 times the recommended dose of caffeine :P

Nah dont worry about it, since being on this board, I've come to realize that there is no text book bp'er. We're all still individual... According to the text book, I'm not supposed to experience mixed episodes cos I'm dxd bp2. Well imagine my surprize and my pdoc's dismay... or was it the other way around lol, like I said, we're all individuals
Thanks for this!

I second Trippin's point: it is just one of the symptoms. You do not have to have all symptoms ever observed in bp patients. I do not get racing thoughts and I am clearly bp I.
Thanks for this!
