Have any of you been diagnosed with both? My husband has voiced concern that I'm possibly showing signs of schizophrenia. I've actually been concerned about that for awhile and never mentioned it to him.

I know some people who have but there is also schizoaffective disorder I think thats how its spelled. Its like an in between of bipolar and schizophrenia, may want to talk to your doc about it only he/she can dx somethng like that. But the short answer is I do know people with both.

Yeah, schizoaffective disorder is like havin both schizophrenia and bipolar, from what I understand. It gets it's own name and everything.

It's possible to also have bipolar with psychotic features if you don't have the actual symptoms of schizophrenia (such as flat affect, disorganized thoughts / speech, etc.)

My thoughts are scattered lately. I was gonna post something similar. Maybe my Bain is racing but I find that my short-term memory us gone sometimes. I can't go back and get the last file or two n my trajectory because they aren't there.

This is making it difficult to clean and organized today. I start at one thing and get caught up with another and them get confused.

Do you guys stay really paranoid that people intend to hurt you in some way or that the "friends" you have really hate you and are waiting on the opportunity to backstab you or everybody is lying to you? And when you're trying to make a decision do you ever think there is a voice--like one in your head--giving the answer?

I know I must sound totally insane and probably in need of a hospital stay. All this is going on plus occasional hallucinations despite being on Seroquel. The visual ones had been pretty benign but my last one was a headless black woman in a white dress. I now have times of being convinced I'm going to see something terrifying if I look out a window or go into a dark room at night. I feel like a five year old. I'm just worried these are signs of full blown psychosis or something like schizophrenia.

I get really paranoid that people are trying to do things that hurt me, people doing things on purpose, my friends are not my real friends, and so on. And yeah, I have that person I talk to in my head, the other me, who helps me make decisions, etc.

I have auditory and visual hallucinations off and on. They are usually not a big deal and I don't have many in succession. I've had one huge bout of psychosis when I was younger. I often wonder, if I'd actually been in treatment then, i might have gotten the schizophrenia diagnosis because that delusion lasted about five years.... but since it is past, it's just "noted" in my history as something that happened and can't be used to diagnose. (It happened over five years ago now...)

I think psychosis is a positive symptom of schizophrenia (not positive good but positive as in notable?) anyway there are also negative symptoms which are the disruptions in cognition or whatever. I would research it if I were you.

Yea, I go through phases of intense paranoia, not just people plotting against me, that is just distrust in my mind. Paranoia when I start thinking supernatural, thought reading, elaborate plans from "higher beings", invisible people putting thoughts in my head, insight into secrets and patterns in the universe or maybe I become convinced I'm already dead and I'm in hell, immortal suffering... that's crazy! But, it's phases and entirely mood related for me, I get too down or too up and wham, my brain clicks over to this nonsense world.

I've worried maybe I have schizophrenia but, it's always with moods and the several doctors I've mentioned things too always land on bipolar and want to keep an eye out for such things. I don't really detail it though, seems unreal when I'm not like that and when I am, I'm too terrified to speak of it, doc is out to get me, I'll be punished or just talking outloud makes it harder to fight because, with the exception of the first time I got like that, I retain the ability to say no, that isn't real and resort to a more socially accepted reality to function.
