Yesterday the doc gave me 60 tabs of 100 mg Trazodone . I took 100mg of it at 10pm, i was still awake at 2am, so i took another 100mgs at 2am. I didnt go to bed until 4am with my chest having a firery burning sensation. I slept and I didnt wake up until 2:30pm my chest is still buring, and my eyes are very dilated.. I called the clinic they said the burning in chest was not a side effect, I have no clue of what could be going on.

Run of the mill heart burn? Eat something weird or large meal/snack before bed?

I remember trazodone didn't make me sleepy at all when I took it with Prozac...overdosed on it once, took several grams, remember my eyes were dilated among other things...was an awful experience.

Read this closely , and tell me if you would be conscerned . I called the clinic , which is a bunch of automated boxes, and voicemails. Around the time I called I click to speak to someone in the pharmacy, I kept getting a repeat service from the same women answering the phone saying "Hello,,,, Hello Hello, and then hanging up. After I called about 5 times and realized it was a recording because no one answers the phone and say the same thing 5 times in the row (background talking I heard it even 5times in a row. So , I finally got a call back from the pharmacy, from a lady who was basically explaining she got the call, but couldnt hear my voice, which i never even asked her about that. As she continues to explain herself , i cut her off and told her about my side effects while she looked up -medicine, she then said she couldnt find that that as a sideeffect, and then transfered me to the nurse, and it was a recording. Service is very poor in New Orleans at this clinic, If I leave a message for a doc to call me, they never call, and i mean never. Going to the emergency room is going to cost me, and i dont have the money. Im just hoping its not serious, if it is, Im hoping for heaven

I'm Canadian, never weigh the financial concerns with going to a doctor because, we don't have those worries. If I want to go to an ER for a papercut, I could, may wait 15 hrs to see someone though.

With that in mind, I may go to a clinic depending on how I felt.

It's a time versus health thing for me, even doctor's who have booked you an appointment will make you wait awhile because being paid per appointment means they'll double even triple book themselves for more money. Of course, you wait and wait and wait some more but, arrive even 5 minutes late for that scheduled appointment and they can cancel and bill you directly for a missed appointment, still getting their funds!

I can't imagine worrying about the costs associated with seeing a doctor.

Is there another nurse line you could call and you do know your body best, does it feel like it is a concern worth the bill?

I do hope it's nothing I've never had a side effect like that from it. I hope it all goes ok. Thinking about you.

How I wish I lived in those place in the world that never have to worry about making a decision with my health . I guess im telling myself that its ok and I'll just skip taking the medicine tonight since im still drowsy and see if my chest is still burning tomorrow. Then if my eyes have stopped being dilated and the headache is gone, ill know for sure its the medicine. And ill have to wait until next month to see the doc on appt.

Is the trazodone just for the drowsiness side effect or is it being an antidepressant a factor?

I've never heard of those side effects. However, I had some weird effects to trazodone, too. I would sleep walk, head to the fridge/pantry and eat high calorie foods. I'm losing the weight I gained. However, the key is to sleeping well is trial and error. Figure out why you cannot sleep, reasons both psychological and physical and harp on that. I rented another place just to sleep better. The place is next to where I live. The reason being, it became my sanctuary just to sleep. There are no noisy neighbors there, or even food in the place. It is isolated, which allows me to fall asleep peacefully and without being woken up. If I wake up to use the restroom, there's no food to much on. I now exercise daily and eat very healthy which allows me to sleep guilt free and without the stimulating effects of bad food and the exercise makes me feel good and it tires me out. I also avoid light (even lots of fake light) an hour before bed. I write in a daily journal to get the thoughts out of my head, and it helps me feel at peace. I have a routine that I follow, which helps. If my routine is altered, I know something in my life is wrong and needs to be fixed.

Point being, it takes work to be able to sleep well. I think that unless you're obese, quality sleep is very attainable. Look at me, I'm bipolar. It's just something in life that takes mastery.

Doc I guess he assumed that the reason im not sleeping is because of being depressed. But he put for insomnia on the bottle .. So i was taking it to sleep, id been awake for days at night, before i went to see him

No medicaid , they denied me. They sent a letter saying I didnt return medical records to them, when i never got the letter from them to do so, i called the medicaid office and the lady you took my call also, said she didnt see where they had sent out a letter asking for such, and that my case was going into review since it was wrongly denied. As of now i do not know whats going to happen

Hmm, well if you want to keep the medication route and you want it sooner, you'll want to see your doctor before the month for depression drug options.

Of course, this could be unrelated but, your experience is weird and if you conclude it is the trazodone, you wouldn't want to take it for the next month but, you do want a drug option. Or did he switch other drug dosages around while at it?

And why is he giving you a new psych drug and no good option for an appointment until a month later? Funds thing on your end or is he just being irresponsible and lazy?

Psych meds suck so much in addition to the hells that make us desperate for them, you'd need to be able to follow up sooner than a month if need be. Concerning no?

trazedone is a sleep aid and an anti-depressant. you take a mood stabilizer too, right? how are you feeling now - are your eyes still dilated, chest pain? those 2 things worry me a lot.

i think it sounds like medicaid will approve you, and usually they will go back about 3 months and cover the medical bills. if you have to go to an ER, they can't turn you away. but hopefully you're feeling better and can avoid that. i know you said you don't like hospitals.

I agree with much of that but no all. Everyone is different, while somethings work for you, doesn't mean it will work just as well for others. Everybody has different reason for not being able to sleep, mines is psychological and also physical. Im no doc and as of now im only doing what is instructed from my doc . I dont believe being able to sleep should take work, different views. But I agree there are alot of things I could change in my life, that may make it a bit easier, dont know what they are, but as of now Ive tried all those you've listed and then some. I have a few hours awake before being able to sleep guess Ill use them praying and asking for answers . Thanks alot giving me much to think about

Yea I pretty much get a date for the next month every visit, i only see him once a month and this times I had to see him early sleeping only one hour a full day.. I wouldnt call him lazy because i know there are alot of people to see everyday all day, but i do consider it irresponsible to not even have the right people working for you, that will give you messages and ask you to call patients back or even check your mail box to get the important messages from patients. I cant just see patients callign and leaving messages for no reason, and if so its yur job to show concern for our health and well being. Ive only been taking meds for 4 months, I havent got any addictions so far, hopefully i wont because it medicaid deny me , it'll be hell for me . And yes when it comes to emergency room funds normally run anywhere from 300 to 1200 bucks depending on what meds, xrays etc.

I also didnt take any of the mood stabilizers because im afraid to put anything else in my system . Im really afraid ..

15 hours...oh my! I'm going to learn to be grateful for the 5-6 hours wait.
