Has anyone heard of Tapping?

I will link references:
http://www.projecttapping.com/lp?sr=...ing&placement=

http://www.tapping.com/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotion...dom_Techniques

I have seen this referenced on other websites and boards and was wondering if anyone has tried it out.

I think it is a mechanism to help people be open to changing their behaviors and feel more positive about a situation/thing. I don't know if it actually the result of the 'tapping'. Maybe the action of 'tapping' helps to relax the body and allow the person to feel more comfortable about approaching those difficult topics. It seems to be driven by enforcing positive thoughts and helping the body relax.

It was suggested by one of my T in the past, but I found it cumbersome, time-consuming, and, well, how do I put it without insulting anyone - in the end, no, I do not do it.

A lot - you are supposed to repeat the tapping again and again.

So it's basically positive reaffirmation to negate negative thoughts and experiences?

What is the purpose of tapping then? Is that supposed to relax you?

The guy in the video talked about coritsol levels increasing when you're stressed and tapping combats it. (By alleviating stress)

I was not able to discern a rational purpose.

I love you, Hamster-bamster.

I just got that from reading and listening to the video. He is right about stress, though, and how we live in a high stress world and that our biology isn't fit for chronic stress.

I took middle son to this psychologist who wanted us to do this for $400 hr. My son called him the "wizard" and refused to go to him, we both thought he was a crock. But maybe it could be useful with a better doctor...

A bunch of the videos say you can do it yourself without seeing a doctor. You just have to learn the tap-order stuff. (Like you can youtube basic videos on how to do it)

I am starting to believe that touching and being touched is more rewarding. I think learning massage and using it can reduce stress because muscles won't be tight. I am going to force my boyfriend to learn it with me.

I have so much anxiety right now and my muscles are so tight. I think if I can release the stress from my muscles that my mental stress will go down.

Sure, I tried EFT and even got it to work - as in causing lasting changes. I spent about an hour per day for just over a month and never used it again. By the time I did it enough to make it work I couldn't stand to keep going.
