As long as a week.... Are they off their heads????
I see my T later, so I'm hoping she can pull some strings. I don't think I'm safe at home anymore, yet they can't provide me with help?

I am so sorry!! I do hope your T can help cut some red tape for you, especially if you feel that you're not safe staying at home... Big hugs - thinking of you!

Probably won't take as long as they are saying. People come and go constantly in the psych unit, so I would suspect it won't quite take as long as they are saying unless they have a REALLY long waiting list. Keep hanging on.

Yeah, I'm hanging on. T could see today that I was desperate.
If anyone is interested, google 'St Joseph's hospital'. That's where I'll apparently be going. Cleared with my T that I don't have to interact with anyone bar T, pdoc, nurse, food. No group therapy. So I can sleep the rest of the time or read.
Still battling with taking too many Klonopin last night and am feeling terrible. Off to bed.

Thanks for the encouragement Chris. And everyone else

I think liviacat and farmergirl are onto something. With either of those factors (and hopefully both in unison!) helping, I bet it will be sooner to get in there than you were initially told. I have to wonder too if there is some kind of -- how to call it?-- unspoken space/arrangement?-- they can come up with for just such a situation. Also, and this is related to Chris' thought -- though from experience in unrelated fields....if someone ordered something like a not in stock item, or wanted to know how long a wait would be for food/a table, I'd "err" (on purpose) telling them the longer side of the estimate, even if the shorter wait was more likely. Why? Because earlier would be a pleasant surprise for them. But if I initially told them the earlier end of the estimate, and it didn't happen that way (by even one day or 5 minutes!), people would get upset. Which, hating conflict, I'd try to avoid(!) Don't know if this makes any sense.

Whatever combination of factors is in play, I hope it works out soon!

Yes, it all makes sense that they'll probably make a plan sooner or later. It also surprises me that there there is no "contingency" plan for when someone really needs to be in hospital
