I will be gone for two weeks. I take:
6AM - Levoxyl breakfast - Prozac, Topamax, Fish Oil, Metformin lunch - Fish Oil, Metformin dinner - Geodon, Topamax, Metformin, Fish Oil, Lutein, Vitamin D3 bedtime - Lithium (3 tablets), Amitriptilyne (2 tablets) That is a lot! I do not want to lug the bottles. I need a more compact solution. Thanks! |

Hmm the only boxes I know of to take care of that many different times are pretty big. I just have a simple night and day box which is pretty small. I wish you luck on your journey.

I found that if you have to go to the hospital you may need your medications in the bottles. They won't let you take any meds that aren't in the original bottles. I was at my Mom's and had to have my gallbladder taken out. I was admitted under "observation" which meant they wouldn't dispense my regular meds and I didn't have the med bottles with me. I also had to stay longer than I planned. I missed my meds while in the hospital and then had to take meds every other day in order to make it until I was released by the doctor to return home. My advice -- take your pill bottles.

Do not see one for 5 times at Walmart, but the one for 4 times is cheaper than at the Container Store: http://www.walmart.com/ip/7-Day-Mediplanner/14089470
Anne: with a different language and names of medications, it probably does not matter whether the meds are in the original container. |

This is what I used to use.. It has 4 slots each day for morning, noon, afternoon, night, AND each day can snap out of the whole thing. So lets say you want to take 1 days worth with you, just snap it off, and when done, snap it back on. Very cheap at Walgreens.

I would take the pill bottles.. especially being over seas .. Not like a hospital over there is going to call the states to verify meds. (Of course I hope nothing happens while your gone that would require medical care)
At least maybe take the Med bottles that give you problems if you miss doses. I know missing Lithium a few days got you in a bit of a mess in the past.

Oh yeah also .. there is always the chance you may loose your purse or something, then you would be "medless" .. I would freak out if that happened to me.

If you are flying, your meds must be in the prescription container which has your name on it so they can identify that they belong to you specifically.

HB, it depends on where you are traveling. If you are traveling in the states, I would have just enough on me, in my travel bag, that will get me through 3 days and then fill the rest when I get there.
Is it possible to speak with your doctor and call ahead to a drugstore at your location and have your Rx's filled there? Then you don't have to worry. If you aren't comfortable with that, definitely keep your Rx's in the original bottles and keep them with you. When I travelled both domestically and overseas, I had my Rx's in the bottles in my carry-on, and I was fine. I know it's kind of a pain but ... Safe / happy travels ![]() Quote:

Checked the TSA.gov website. It says it doesn't require prescription bottles; however, every state has there own rules on this matter. Where to look from there I'm not sure.

Informative article which recommends prescription labels to expedite getting through security, although it isn't required. Personally, I wouldn't tempt the fates by trying to get unlabeled meds through security. It would completely suck if that caused a delay or hassle. |

I'm sure they won't allow you to bring prescription medications without their bottles on a plane. They're pretty funny about stuff like that.

Original bottles, even though its a hassle - try explaining they don't need to test them to "identify" them to let you through. They are terribly suspicious of loose medications and pills. My mother (non BP) was hassled over some Advil - she just gave it up in order to go through...

OK guys, I will take original bottles and then transfer stuff into pillboxes for two weeks. Thank you guys. I will also make sure to take imitrex spray in the original packaging - it is my migraine medication.

exactly! and I am in trouble - I cannot find Imitrex with my name on it. It is the way it arrives - most of the packaging is blank without the name. So I have just reordered.
