It's making me edgy.

I don't know what scares me more... if he possibility of Mayans being right and something happening... or that nothing happens and we as humanity continue to wither and live the way we do.

My interpretation (one I heard from alternative circles) is that it's merely "end of an era". Maybe it happened already, with terrorism, economic crises (which could be more serious this time... maybe the markets are saturated and there's nowhere to go from here... except back to the basics. Maybe we can create some post-capitalist, post-material, post-economic era). Maybe in the end, it will be all good....

I don't know.

for now, I just countdown the minutes and secretly hope perpetual peace will break out tomorrow.

i replied to a topic on this a few days ago in another forum (someone was talking about their voices) and that they kept telling them the world would end- and while i told them that everything would be okay, i've actually always been a strong believer of the world ending in 2012 and i believe that something will happen (and yes, it worries me!)

i suppose if it does, then i'll be out of my pain for ever... but i can't help worrying about how it will end and how it would feel- will we just never wake up?

or what

If there's a meteor shower, I will buy myself a bottle of Jack and light a 'higher grade' blunt and watch the fireworks display, (or I'll make my own display) while listening to 'Sleep' by My Chemical Romance. The lyrics: 'A drink, for the horror that I'm in, for the good guys and the bad guys, for the monsters that are there! 3 cheers for tyranny, unapologetic apathy, coz there aint no way that I'm coming back again...' would be so fitting for the occasion

That would be awesome if perpetual peace breaks out. But, I don't believe that there is anything that could suddenly change people to remove war from the world. Not in one day, at least. Unless, of course, it is the end o the world.... but I don't believe in that exactly.

I believe humans can go extinct. Either by natural disaster like a giant meteor falling on us or something very powerful like a full out nuclear war... which, all of those I don't wish on the world. I think that if there was a giant meteor we'd know it by now. Even if the governments were able to keep that type of secret, too many people are into astronomy and science and the internet is powerful enough that word would get out.

War, who can predict the insanity of someone who as the finger on the button? So, that's just a hope it doesn't happen thing.

As for the Mayan calander I have 2 opinions.

1) If they are right, then it won't be the "end of the world," but the end of an era like you say. But, we live in such a different time than the Mayans. Their erra is ended. Although Mayans still exist, they are not in the best situation. I've seen where they live and my heart goes out for them. They live in a tropical world surrounded by poverty and the violence of drug lords. The ancestors of one of the greatest civilizations of the ancient world show exactly how the fate of your people can be turned.

What is the new era? I don't know. If it's true, then the gears are already in motion.

2) The calander only goes so far because those keeping it were either killed or run off. Maybe they only got so far because it was the end of their era as the Spanish came and started taking over. The keeper of the prophecy or whatever was no longer able to continue the work. Their whole world was changed.

Then my third idea is that it's a bit of both. They saw that their civilization was changed suddenly, so their calander predicts that it will happen again. The rise and fall of nations is a cycle. And just because those nations still exist, they don't necessarily hold the same power they once did. Rome. Egypt. Soviet Union. British Empire. You see?

Tomorrow will come and go. I don't predict a sudden change in anything. It will be another day. If things change, it's already in the workings and it's already in motion.

Just think I would lighten the mood a little. I don't think the world will really end tomorrow but.....

Isn't the end of the world when you can drink a cheesecake???

End of the world (era?) countdown

I feel similar. I would definitely welcome a drastic change to our world, something has got to give. I would be willing to die for it.

I am more afraid of some major mess happening. But isn't the world on fire right now? Isn't the age of aquarius kinda messy? *shrugs*

I am from eastern bloc... so 1990s were all new, raw, OMG, no way for me. I believe part of my messed up ness comes from growing up in democratic transition (democratic transition, if it doesn't turn outright messy is like party with cheap booze and music from bad bootlegged mixtapes. And weird food that your friends brought over and claim it's some exotic cuisine, but it likely is just some dollar store junk).

but gah, I wanna some downtime from history. I cannot just "Not watch the news". Too addictive. I am too damn political to pretend it ain't happening. But gah, I don't understand the world sometimes. It's embarassing when people ask me to explain some economic issue or war and I am all "yes, it really doesn't make sense"

Cheesecake vodka.... not sure about that. I still want to try their whipped cream vodka. I hear it's rather good. I like Smirnoff cherry lime pretty good. They are good at adding flavors.

End of the world song: "The song that doesn't end."

I think actually there has been a lot less reaction than Y2K. People were going nuts about that. stores were sold out of everything like water bottles and canned food where I live. I mean, people really expected it to be this huge thing. And then happy new year comes and goes and the lights are still on.

I spent Y2k with my aunt and uncle at this garden place that decorates all the plants with pretty lights for winter. It was really nice.

Is it wrong that I don't care either way ? I just hope there isn't a whole bunch of people dumb enough to drink the kool-aid.

Anything happen on the other side yet? I'm about an hour away from it. Peace would be a great galactic new year resolution, if only mass consciousness would agree on it.

But, yea if the end of the world did really happen, would sure fix my credit problems too. Don't think we're getting off that easy.

I'm still alive and its almost noon, so instead of a bottle of Jack, I got sent home for what seems to be the makings of a migraine, or just a very debilitating headache... I mean REALLY debilitating; body tremors, speech impediment, off balance, stiff neck, nausea, I cant even think clearly coz my head is filled with unrelenting PAIN... Close to tears on a longass bus drive home, I would have preferred the apocolypse!

4:45 a.m. in SE USA ... I'm about to head off to work ... There's this restaurant I've been eyeing on my rounds ... If I'm still alive when I get by it today, I'm going to have a meal there ... That way if the world does come to an end I won't regret that missed opportunity ...

Where I am it's well into morning. Office is opened as usual, store was opened as usual. No end of the world just yet.

You know what else I was thinking? The end of the world in 2011 was supposed to be on May 21st. What is it with people deciding no the 21st of the month? LOL.
