I'm still stuck with my craptastic P doc. I am looking for a new one but the one I want to see needs a referral from my family doctor. Someone dropped the ball and the referral has not been made. I'm calling them after lunch.

In the meantime, I saw my pdoc 3-4 weeks ago. He put me on a new med, then the pharmacist told me not to take the med so I called pdoc and left a message. He NEVER called me back so I never started the new med. When I was there I told him my Lexapro needed to be refilled, he said, no problem just have the pharmacy call us and we'll okay. Guess what? The pharmacy has been calling him since Friday and the doctor's office finally called back yesterday and DENIED my refill and told the pharmacy I need to call them. I called today and left a message telling them to PLEASE CALL ME BACK. I called them 2 months ago in a terrible mixed up state and they never returned that call so I don't think they are going to return today's call either.

I take Lexapro to control my anxiety and panic attacks. I took my last pill Sunday. When I call my family doc about the referral to a new pdoc I'm going to ask her if she will call me in some Lexapro. I"m so pi$$ed right now.

You would think a psychiatrist would take someone's mental health into consideration and at the very least return a freaking phone call. If it weren't for the fact that he is 85 miles away I would go to his office and get my refill.

Well, since you never had the meds before you can go a long time gernally speaking. I go very long stretches without meds (years) But, it depends on you personally and how you handle your cycles. The Lexipro though you want to probalby stay on just in case of withdrawals.

The Lexapro is the one that I am out of and he denied refills on. I have a feeling I'm going to have a very bad weekend.

Do you have a GP that can refill you for a month until you can sort something out? I haven't cold turkey'ed off of Lexapro, but I wouldn't want to try either. Lexapro is a non-controversial drug (not like a benzo or stimulant) that lots of GP's rx.

Sorry you are being treated this way.

Okay, I have an appointment with my NEW Pdoc in 2 weeks. I can't wait.

When I called the old doc yesterday about my meds, I didn't use any ugly words or raise my voice but you could tell from my tone of voice that I was Pi$$ed.

So this morning the staff calls me back. They are mad because I left an UGLY message. Then the girl told me that they never denied my medicine. They claim my pharmacy is at fault here. She said my pharmacy never called and asked for a refill. I told her that I was inclined to believe my pharmacy over her because the office never returns my phone calls. I told her that the office had lost all credibility with me since they never return phone calls. She then told me that it is NOT her fault. She said the last message I left for the doctor about the new medication he prescribed is still on his desk, and he still HAS NOT answered it. That message was left 2-3 weeks ago. I told her that is not acceptable to me and that I felt it was highly unprofessional. I told her that even my family doctor agreed that it is unprofessional. She then told me that I needed to stop complaining to her because it's not her fault. I told her that I had to call my family doctor today to get a refill on my Lexapro. She then said that the doctor would discontinue care if I started getting meds elsewhere. I told her that was fine with me because my family doctor referred me to a new psychiatrist and that I had already set up the appointment. She asked me if I wanted to discontinue care and I told her DEFINITELY YES!

She then said that she didn't want to talk to me anymore. She said she should not have to listen to me complain about her employer when it isn't her fault.

I told her I can't be the only one complaining and if she doesn't want to listen to complaints then maybe she would work for a more professional doctor. I also let her know that I would be sending a records request and that I hoped they would be able to get my records to my new doctor in a timely manner.

I'm still pi$$ed. How can a doctor be so unprofessional? Why would a doctor who deals with people's mental health on a daily basis just leave them hanging like that?

Wow sounds like you got your point across good for you. I am glad your new pdoc appt is not far away which is excellent. I am also glad to hear your gp got your meds filled. It seems like you have handled this well. So keep your head up and think in two weeks you will have a new and hopfully better pdoc.

I know. I tried hard to keep my cool and tell her what I was thinking without cursing or raising my voice. So what if my tone was nasty. Anyone's would be at this point.
