I just saw my pdoc today. I'm going off the seroquel because it's too sedating for me. My quality of life was going downhill from being a zombie all day.
Anyway, he suggested I buy one of those light therapy lights. He said its pretty effective with depression and even make some people hypomanic. I was wondering if anybody has any experience with light therapy. Is it effective? Those lights are expensive so I don't want to waste money on something that doesn't work. Thanks! |

We use full spectrum lights in our home which are suppose to be like a light box. So we essentially live in a light box. I have no idea if it helps but it is cheaper than a light box. You may want to look into that first.

I don't know but I've always wanted to try it. Or to have full spectrum lights at work instead of the florescent ones...

Since I have SAD I use a light box daily...it provides full spectrum light which is supposed to take the edge off depression (it's very cloudy in winter where I live). I'm also on a low dose AD & Abilify (which is both an AP & is supposed to increase the effectiveness of ADs). With all this mix, it's hard to telll what's what, but the light box certainly doesn't hurt. It's never made me hypomanic, but if I use it late at night I find it hard to sleep.
Not all light boxes are that expensive. Amazon has a wide selection of light boxes in various price ranges: Amazon.com: light boxes: Health & Personal Care Good luck working your problems out. I don't blame you for wanting to get of Seroquel... |
