In the last few weeks I have noticed in real life there is just so much intolerance on every level.

a Facebook "friend" has been going on a rant about everyone that doesnt fit in his "bubble of acceptance"

I mean what the hell ... who cares who has a tattoo? or piercing(s)? Hair styles? clothing? I have no idea where this mean hateful way of thinking is headed, will it ever stop? peoples beliefs and how they chose to live there life.

Kindness isn't hard and isn't such a hard thing to do. Throw out happiness and love out into the world and your life will be effected in a good way.

Yes bad things will happen, I just guess I feel overwhelmed with negativity right now.

I have no idea if this makes any sense .. I'm just rambling , sorry

I'd love it if people would be kind all the time! Wouldn't that be nice?

ive come across a lot of people that have a hard time with kindness. i think some people see it as weak. or as the saying goes "nice guys finish last".

humility and kindness is important though i think.
its hard for me but ive gotten better at it because ive been through down and out times. i used to have it but then something happened.

IMOP the problem in the world today, espcially here in America, is that people just don't care about each other anymore. Its all about what America can do for me. Who's gonna help me? Where's my paycheck? Why don't you share my ideals? Why don't you dress, talk, live, worship, act like me? Pure self-centered selfishness.

Its disgusting...

The more pressure a person is under, from within and without, the less accepting they tend to be of people who are not like themselves. The same thing is true on a larger scale wit societies and organizations. When things are going well it is easier to play fair and give people a chance.

kindness seems so hard to find these days.

lately when someone's been kind to me in any way, no matter how small, i'm like overwelmed.. you know.. are you well?. do you have the right person?

sadly kindness seems to be going out of fashion or something

I agree with the miner
Society over the years has engineered a Socio-Economic orientated people who are only looking out for number 1.
Problem with putting blinkers on is, you become narrow-minded and lose sight of the bigger picture (among other things of course).

People dont take the time to be kind simply because there is no immediate pay off for them.

And everything in our current reality surrounds the "what's in it for me" attitude.

So sorry the negativity is getting to you sis

It really is a sad sad situation....

I try really hard to practice kindness, which is not easy when my normal brain setting is negativity.

I try to see the beauty in other people and stay in that vibration.

But then stuff happens that blows me away.

For example, I've gained a lot of Facebook friends who I met in real life at various conferences where you have a huge variety of people. This seems odd to some of my long-term friends in my white-white, intolerant town.

So several times when these diverse friends have posted new profile photos and I have commented that they are beautiful, I have then received messages from the white-whites saying something like, "Do you need your vision checked? That nappy-headed woman is not beautiful."

Those are just about the features you have no control over. Yet the white-whites are fine with tattoos and piercings and things you choose to do to yourself. Those are beautiful, but the way God created someone is not?

I don't get it.

^^^ This! ^^^^ This! ^^^ This x7,000,000,000 (approx # of people on this planet.)

Just go onto any news story on the web and scroll on down to the "comments" section and see how many people use hate and negativity towards each other. Politically. Religiously. We've become a society of "emotionally abuse thy neighbor" instead of "love they neighbor." The amount of hate is astounding. It makes me so sick! It triggers my rage! (I try to avoid reading comments... but.... sometimes I forget....)

i thought this exact thing.

i even said it on a science forum against overpopulation and they all got on me. saying "being nice wont fix overpopulation". when my REAL argument was that its NOT about being nice. i had said its ABOUT the privileged wasting resources and the rich being greedy and then when they say its depleting too fast they say its cause too many people are on the planet. it doesnt make sense to me from what resources we have are largely wasted.

idk...am i completely wrong?

I am in total agreement with you.

American portion sizes are like 50% larger than they were in the 1950s alone! We eat big portions. We drive big cars (SUV, mini van, 3/4 ton truck but don't live on a farm or ranch,) and most vehicles are SOV (single occupant vehicle) to go to jobs far from our houses instead of working where we live, we water our perfectly sculpted lawns in climates where perfectly sculpted lawns are not ecologically naturally occuring. We are expected to flush everything, even plain old urin which can sit for the next person, and we are expected to take shower every day. So.... yes, there is a ton of waste for the rich.

Yet, hmmm, over here these people don't even have clean drinking water. And over here, these people are watching their kids starve to death. And it happens right here in our own country, too. Kids and families hungry because of tradgedy in their lives. Not everyone who doesn't work is "lazy" like we know right here from our own forum, life just doesn't fit into that stupid box they try to shove us into. Oh, but it's not enough rescources, although people like my oldest step-brother and his wife threw away a whole turkey at Thanksgiving because it didn't get eaten during the meal. Because of "bacteria it might have gotten" in the 2 hours it sat on the counter....

yea theres people who go dumpster diving for food. and other things. ive done that before. you wouldnt believe the unused new stuff people throw away. clothes - home goods - even electronics. etc. another thing i dont understand is people who say save the environment but are ok with parking lots and malls covering what could be possibly used for parks. and then they want to manufacture a fake manicured park in the middle of a city. to be honest theres nothing greater than natural nature. but REAL nature gets harder and harder to find for most because cities develop and then funding for things like national parks are undercut etc.

i just dont understand the hypocrisy thats all. and i think most of it is in the hands of the rich. because yes money is power.

I'm just remaining quiet bc if I start it may be awhile til I finish. I will say Americans....sometimes I'm embarrassed to be one. It's been built on a lot of others blood. I'm half native half white. My mom who passed away 6 yrs ago was ASHAMED of being Native American....so sad.

She was raised that way, you know white is better. My father (who was white) loved her beauty. She never loved herself bc of her race among other things. My dad died when I was 4. I wish I knew him, he adored her and she was never with another man again. Now that's deep...anyway off track.

I think it's relevant because we do live in culture where we are made to hate ourselves for not being media beautiful. Whether it be ladies of African heritage being made to feel they need to make their hair more like white lady hair, or like your mom thinking her race wasn't good enough... it's terrible! Too fat, be skinnier. Too ugly, wear this make-up. Too old, buy this cream.

You're right! Some of my siblings absolutely do not embrace their heritage. Not one of my brothers though....he married a sweet woman from Mexico. He lives in San Diego, so laid back the part he lives in. The sister I really get along with though does embrace our heritage. It's so cool bc she is very well off and loves animals like me. She gives a lot to local charities. She's over in Eugene ORE. I looooovvve it there. Talk about laid back. I hope to end up there. Full of hippies, my kind of ppl.

im half african american/half mexican

some people cant tell whether im or the other. some think im half white too because my skin color is kinda light.
...but i striaghten my hair. i guess sometimes i feel thankful because its not what some say "nappy". def because what i was taught and i grew up in an almost all white wealthy city. knew only 1 black kid but they all did not like me. i found out some were jealous because my skin wasnt as dark as theirs and my hair did things theirs couldnt. it kinda made me sad. but they also bullied me for it. called me "white washed" and "traitor". they said i need to "stick to my own kind. us."

edit// the called me that mostly because i wasnt the ghetto kid. i hung out with caucasian kids and was into rock - BASICALLY.

The world is full of loving kind and generous people too. But they probably are not making hateful comments on fb or news sites or anywhere else..not attracting that kind of dramatic attention but they are there. They are trying to attract attention in other places, just have to look for them. Positive goes unnoticed often.

I am not sure what to make of it. Compassion for their intolerance..something is not right if someone feels ok saying such hateful stuff.
In general I usually wonder what happened to make someone so cold, hateful or angry. But I will not pretend what they said was ok either.

Newtus, I wish you didn't feel bad, who you are is wonderful. White is not a race..it's a mere lack of pigment molecules. I am very pale..wasn't always happy about that either. Honestly my pigment levels have very little to do with who I am, just as my blonde hair does not make me dumber, and my blue eyes do not make me less intense than deep brown eyes. All just pigment...it is nothing but a bit of variety and science.

We are all human, same ability to have consciousness...nothing is really that different at all. We are all of one source ...we are all life like all other life. I dont see human life above other life and especially not one pigment level or race above any other. All life is beautiful, amazing and exquisit. It's not hard to see it. It's not hard to see the unique beauty of all life.

Your "own" kind...Humankind? Lifekind? Careingkind? I don't know what your own kind is...but I know that my own kind is Allkind. Maybe they were not taught to think about it freely or openly. But I am sorry you had to endure that. I hope you can see it for what it truely is and cast it off.

Exactly that's what I tell my boy. There are ppl doing right, trying to make this world a better place. Imo, they don't get the attention bc our media thrives on the negativity. I've quite watching my local news bc it's all negative. Recently I haven't even been watching world news for the same reason. I'm trying really hard to focus on the positive ppl that ARE making a difference. Sometimes I falter though.
